Lock Him Up

We can have fun pretending it will happen!

NEW YORK — Manhattan’s district attorney has convened the grand jury that is expected to decide whether to indict former president Donald Trump, other executives at his company or the business itself should prosecutors present the panel with criminal charges, according to two people familiar with the development.

Regarding potential Trump prosecution, I agree with Rob Beschizza writing at BoingBoing:

I think it’s foolish to have faith that establishment dinosaurs like these will nail Trump. They don’t really care; they’re not in it with that in mind. Consider Merrick Garland fighting Bill Barr’s corner today; the need to defend the relevant privileges prevails over any pressure to hold Trump’s courtiers accountable.

Democrats can’t muster the even a half hearted defense of democracy. The legal system is following suit. The system is exhausted. I’m exhausted.

I think I’m OK with the prosecution of Trump hitting the news during the mid-term campaigns or the run-up to it. Hopefully the revelations will weaken Trump and suppress Trumpism a little bit, but we only need a little bit electorally speaking. Hopefully they are taking their time with prosecution in order to build an airtight case. I want to see Trump prosecuted, but I don’t want to see him beat the rap.

I’d like to see Trump nominated in 2024, and then become unable to run, either by an act of nature or an act of law.

Puck and Jason seem like weeping willows. Some one has to fight these bastards. I’m wore-out too but I fight these fools at work and anywhere to show there is some defense. Tired of getting fund raising emails, texetes and so on insulting my intelligence about the the same shit Jason and Puck just posted. Fight.

I will not be satisfied unless and until the entire Trump family faces the firing squad. Romanov them.

  4. puck says:

You hotheads know a conviction will be appealed to the Supreme Court, right? A hurry-up prosecution only exposes more loose ends to overturn on appeal. That would be worse than no prosecution at all.

If Trump were convicted of serious crimes today, by midterm campaign season the revelations would have faded from memory and Trump would be out on appeal holding giant rallies in close states. That’s not the background we want for midterms.

    • Alby says:

This is obviously not a hurry-up prosecution. Vance just convened the grand jury. It will most likely hear testimony for months.

Conviction isn’t the point. Airing the crimes is the point. And Trump will do what you say, and his minions already believe what you indicate, regardless of his legal standing.

Your opinion is just that, Eeyore.

        • Alby says:

Yeah, so? I know it’s not going to happen. Doesn’t change the fact that you like to doomsay.

Meanwhile, it’s still not a hurry-up prosecution, and airing the crimes is still the point.

      • puck says:

Anyway, the timing may work out as I hoped, so that during campaign season Trump will be tied up in court with new witnesses testifying, heinous and un-American revelations, and tell-all books hitting the press. Not out on appeal. We need to keep the House and expand the Senate majority, remember?

        • Alby says:

That actually might backfire, as it will keep Trump on TV during election season.

My prediction is that none of this will end until he’s dead, which is why I cry “Off with his head!” The sooner he’s gone, the sooner mop-up operations can begin on the rest of them.

  5. Arthur says:

If i had any faith in the governmental ability to prosecute i’d consider this a sure fire win. Look at the lawyers trump hires. he’d be better off defending himself by reading lines out of a grisham book as his defense

The lincoln Project just put this out and it’s brilliant. Like it came from Alby’s mind a Game changer= https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL1XvF0WDlQ
