DL Open Thread – Wed July 7th 2021 – All Gosar
I have to keep reminding myself that Gosar was elected and is a reflection of some portion of Arizonans.
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) blasted fellow Republican Rep. Paul Gosar (Ariz.) for placing blame for the death of a woman during the Jan. 6 rioting by supporters of President Trump at the feet of Capitol Police.
“On January 6, as the violent mob advanced on the House chamber, I was standing near @RepGosar and helped him open his gas mask,” Cheney said in a tweet on Tuesday. “The Capitol Police led us to safety. It is disgusting and despicable to see Gosar lie about that day and smear the men and women who defended us.”
Gosar, during a House hearing earlier in the day, said Capitol Police were “lying in wait” for Ashli Babbitt, who was shot and killed during the breach at the Capitol that day. Gosar reportedly described Babbitt as being “executed” by Capitol Police.
Gosar wants to know who “executed” Ashli Babbitt.
“Her life mattered,” Gosar said, in a statement issued Tuesday. “We do not allow the execution of citizens by street ‘justice’ in our country.”
GOP Rep. Gosar Promotes More Jan. 6 Conspiracy Theories In Campaign Email
The email repeatedly highlighted Babbitt’s military service, referring to her as a “senior airman” and a “war veteran and mother,” claiming she was “executed in cold blood by an unidentified killer.”
CRUCIAL QUOTE
“Despite the attacks from the crazed left, I will not stop asking questions until I get truthful answers about the events of that day,” the email says.
KEY BACKGROUND
Babbitt was shot by an unidentified law enforcement officer who believed it was “necessary to do so in self-defense or in defense of the Members of Congress and others evacuating the House Chamber,” the Department of Justice found in April, declining to prosecute or identify the officer. Former President Donald Trump on Thursday joined a chorus of right-wing voices calling for the officer to be unmasked.

A great history of caffeine, by someone who stopped ingesting it–for awhile:

BTW, this passage furthers my consideration of microdosing some acid, which I haven’t taken since the ’70’s:
“Cognitive psychologists sometimes talk in terms of two distinct types of consciousness: spotlight consciousness, which illuminates a single focal point of attention, making it very good for reasoning, and lantern consciousness, in which attention is less focused yet illuminates a broader field of attention. Young children tend to exhibit lantern consciousness; so do many people on psychedelics. This more diffuse form of attention lends itself to mind wandering, free association, and the making of novel connections – all of which can nourish creativity. By comparison, caffeine’s big contribution to human progress has been to intensify spotlight consciousness – the focused, linear, abstract and efficient cognitive processing more closely associated with mental work than play. This, more than anything else, is what made caffeine the perfect drug not only for the age of reason and the Enlightenment, but for the rise of capitalism, too.”
