There is still a market for Trump’s incoherent, ill-informed ramblings

During a rambling two-hour speech in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday night, former President Donald Trump bizarrely mused about how basketball player LeBron James could get sex reassignment surgery.

Trump speculated that the Los Angeles Lakers star could “get the operation” in order to compete in women’s sports, he said while speaking at the “Rally to Protect Our Elections.”

The former president joked that, as the coach of a women’s sports team, he would only recruit transgender athletes. “If I were a coach, I wouldn’t be talking to too many women as we know women,” he said. “I’d be getting some of these people that … they’re ‘women.'”

Trump then suggested that James might eventually choose to transition. “Somebody said that if LeBron James ever decided to get the operation, how would he be on the court? How would he be?” he mused.

It is remarkable how Trump manages to misunderstand so much, so thoroughly.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has appointed Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois to Jan 6th Committee

Kinzinger, one of the rare vocal critics inside the Republican Party of former President Donald Trump, will serve on the special committee charged with investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol is set to hold its first hearing on Tuesday. Kinzinger will join Wyoming’s Liz Cheney as one of two Republicans chosen by Pelosi to serve on the nine-person panel. Both Cheney and Kinzinger voted in favor of impeaching Trump following the attack on the Capitol, and were the only GOP members to support the committee’s formation last month.

In a statement, Pelosi said that Kinzinger “brings great patriotism to the Committee’s mission: to find the facts and protect our Democracy.”

Americans are experiencing a crisis of friendlessness, according to the results of a new poll released this week.

The Survey Center on American Life spoke with more than 2,000 US adults aged 18 and older found more people are seeing their social circles decline, particularly during the COVID pandemic.

Only 13% of those polled said their friend group contains more than 10 close friends. This is in contrast to a 1990 Gallup poll, where a third of US adults said they had 10 or more close friends.

I have fewer but better friends. That’s what I tell myself.

Video from a Montana fly fishing shop shows a man berating Fox News host Tucker Carlson, calling him the “worst human being known to man.”

In a post accompanying the video on Instagram, the man, Dan Bailey, accused the top-rated host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” of killing people with vaccine misinformation and supporting “extreme racism.”

In the brief video, Carlson responds to Bailey quietly, saying, “I appreciate that.” At one point, Carlson appears to call Bailey “son” and starts laughing before he walks away.

A Fox News spokesperson said “ambushing” Carlson while he was at the shop in Livingston with his family was “totally inexcusable.”

“No public figure should be accosted regardless of their political persuasion or beliefs simply due to the intolerance of another point of view,” the spokesperson said.

This is false. All asshole pubic figures should be accosted loudly and frequently.
