We can now definitively state that Joe Biden was wrong when he predicted that the Republican fever would break once Trump was out of office. A nation in which Republican governors push experimental antibody treatments but shun vaccines and masks and the public responds by consuming large-animal dewormer, causing an enormous spike in poison control calls is not a nation whose fever has broken. Indeed, as the Rude Pundit argues, this country has been suffereing from a low-grade fever of ignorance that stretches back to water fluoridation and beyond.

You’ve probably noticed all the “help wanted” signs in the windows of so many stores and restaurants. It’s all part of the way Covid changed Americans’ relationships with their jobs, possibly forever, in what economists are calling the Great Resignation.

Lots of stories over the past week or so on the nightmare federal court decisions. Al Franken notes one little procedural change that allowed Republicans to put dozens of unqualified bozos in robes for life: Elimination of the “blue slip” process that used to give senators blackball power over judicial nominees for their districts.

As summers grow hotter and everyone cranks up the air conditioning, people are starting to notice that creating cooler air inside creates hotter air outside. IMHO, it’s only a matter of time before most new homes are built underground.

The floor’s yours.

Still maintaining my national news/cable blackout but some news has slipped in. For example, a hurricane fueled by 88 degree water in the Gulf of Mexico is about to hit Louisiana.

So I guess a large share our tax dollars will soon be diverted to help the rabidly anti-socialist Pelican State.

And don’t forget, these anti-socialist mouthbreathers in Congress opposed aid following Sandy and the Cali fires.

Why don’t WE reciprocate in kind? I know the answer, but I’m not happy about it.

“Joe Biden was wrong when he predicted that the Republican fever would break once Trump was out of office.”

It would be nice if Biden himself acknowledged that.

“We now know that we simply can’t depend on republicans in congress to do the right thing. On so many issues from the pandemic to climate change to building for the future Republicans have no policy and no willingness to work toward just, equitable solutions to our most pressing problems. I had hoped they would take a more rational and patriotic path. But it is clear to me now that the fever of partisan extremism continues to grip the GOP.

So beginning today we are starting a mid-term campaign to win clear majorities in both houses of congress.”

Another anti-vax talk show guy dies of Covid.

After, you know, comparing the US government to Nazis.

Obama predicted the Republicans fever would break and was wrong as well, Biden should have known better. As for school boards do you really blame them?

Maybe only the air conditioner needs to be underground. In most US climates new homes should probably be mandated to have a ground loop heat pump for heat and AC. When powered by rooftop solar, a house with a ground loop heat pump could be energy self-sufficient. It is more costly to retrofit a ground loop in an existing home but is cheaper for new construction.
