Kathy McGuiness Has No Shame.  Of course, that’s a ‘dog bites man’ headline.  But this isn’t:

Delaware Auditor Kathy McGuiness has asked a local judge to make taxpayers foot the bill for her legal defense as she fights criminal corruption charges.

A seven-page motion filed by her private attorney, Steve Wood, on Thursday cites a Delaware court rule that allows public employees facing civil litigation or criminal charges tied to their public work to receive a publicly funded attorney.

Typically, that attorney is appointed from the ranks of the Delaware Department of Justice. But because the Delaware Department of Justice is the entity that brought the five-count corruption indictment against McGuiness, she is arguing for the court to appoint her private counsel to represent her at a rate of $550 per hour.

In addition to his hourly rate, the request also seeks $425 per hour for attorney work by associates and $325 per hour for paralegal work.

Meaning, if my math is correct, that McGuiness wants the taxpayers to pony up $1300 an hour for her defense. I can’t even…

Guess What? Vaccine Mandates Are Working.  About time this story has been told:

Most health-care systems that require vaccination have touted widespread compliance. In interviews, administrators at some of the nation’s largest hospital systems said the mandates worked: Officials said that they have very high vaccination rates they attributed to the requirement and that they have seen coronavirus infections — and sick leaves — noticeably drop…

“Without a vaccine mandate for team members, we faced the strong possibility of having a third of our staff unable to work due to contracting, or exposure to, COVID-19,” she said. “This possibility only increases heading into a fall season with the more contagious and deadly Delta variant.”

More Reasons Why ‘Moderate’ Democrats Suck: So-called ‘New Democrat Coalition’ (read business butt-kissing) Democrats, well read it for yourselves:

A trio of House Democrats is asking party leaders to “pause” their plans to raise taxes on big companies’ overseas profits, adding a new complication to Democrats’ negotiations over their next big legislative package.

In a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi obtained by POLITICO, the lawmakers say they first want to see how other countries implement a new agreement to create a global minimum tax on multinationals — something that could be years away.

Otherwise, they write, Democrats’ plans to hike an existing U.S. tax on companies’ foreign earnings, known as GILTI, would put American firms at a competitive disadvantage.

McGuiness has a ton of nerve. She has literally gone insane. The irony of the person in charge of saving taxpayers money and she wants to charge Delawareans for her defense when she did bad shit. This should tell every single Delawarean she is corrupt and only gives a crap about herself. Hey, here’s a thought. How about paying for her defense with the $19,00 she and her daughter got in their joint bank account when her daughter wasn’t even working but getting paid?

Mcg’s attorney makes a good point. But I am curious how much per hour the state spends per hour when broken down by annual salary and t number of employees working on the case?

  3. SussexWatcher says:

    “Tied to their public work.”

That is in place to protect public servants who are doing their jobs.

McGuiness was not doing her job when she hired her daughter for a no-show gig. She wasn’t doing her job when she structured a political vendor contract to avoid oversight. And she wasn’t doing her job when she spied on her employees. None of that has to do with carrying out the duties and responsibilities of her office.

Woods should be f’ing ashamed of pulling a stunt like this.

Well, if your going to go crazy go big and see how many people buy it. At this point would suggest none other then other politicians contemplating getting caught and suffering a similar fate.
