BREAKING: Andria Bennett Cashing In With City Of Dover, Salary In the Six Figure Range
I just spoke to the current City Clerk of Dover, Traci McDowell. She confirmed the report from one of our readers that Andria Bennett has indeed been hired for that job. McDowell will stay on in the position until Bennett is ‘settled in’.
Although the title is ‘City Clerk’, it’s more like the top administrative official for the city. We’re talking in the $100K range. Andria Bennett. That Andria Bennett. Yet another domestic abuser being handed a sinecure on a silver platter. Andria, Darius. Darius, Andria.
Our intrepid reader who sent us the tip reports that she plans to finish out her term while getting paid for her new job, but will then be gone from the General Assembly.
This is great news for progressives. Assuming Bennett’s successor is someone vetted by Kerri Evelyn Harris and the committee, not only will we have a more progressive rep in this overwhelmingly-D district, we will have another vote against the Kop Kabal that Andria Bennett supported.
Woo-hoo!!! This is big, folks.
BTW, I THINK we’re the first outlet to report this.
So, if someone’s gonna pick up on it, could you at least credit us, and perhaps link to us?
Professional courtesy works both ways, ya know.
FYI, the top administrative official in the city is the city manager. This job runs the operations of the city council, which is currently made up of a majority of morons. It is a very good-paying job. Sounds like a perfect role for her!
El Som, what’s your take on the impact of Article II, Section 14, of the 1897 Constitution on her new job? Does Dover city clerk count as a civil office under the State?
I’m not an attorney. However, if Tony DeLuca got away with being the chief enforcement officer at the Department Of Labor while simultaneously serving as the Senate President Pro-Tem (I still think that was illegal, but Beau did nothing), she’ll probably get away with this.
Having said that, when Sen. Pettyjohn thought he had that job wired with the Sussex County Department of Elections, he had made clear that he intended to resign from the Senate.
Do I think Bennett SHOULD resign? Of course. Should someone make sure that she’s not double-dipping by collecting a full-time paycheck from the City of Dover while spending time as a legislator? Of course. Do I have any confidence that any Dover government official will keep an eye on this? Of course not.
