Rethug-Led States Giving Unemployment Comp To Unvaccinated.  Of course they are. Anything to undermine a national pandemic response. The five states?: Arkansas, Kansas, Florida, Iowa and Tennessee.

‘Half-Earth’ Solution To Climate Change?  It is a proposal from noted biologist and environmental activist Edward O. Wilson, who recently passed away.  The notion, which is beginning to take shape, is:

…a call to conserve half our planet’s lands and seas in order to reverse the species extinction crisis.

Working Conditions Suck At–American Red Cross:

Workers at the American Red Cross charity are speaking out about what they say is low pay, chronic understaffing, poor working conditions throughout the pandemic and proposed cuts to their healthcare.

“People are quitting,” added Ford. “It’s a slap in the face to the employees for management to say ‘we’re going to cut your healthcare and not pay you anything, while we’re going to work from home and be safe.’”

The Coalition of American Red Cross Unions, which represents about 4,900 workers from 11 international unions at American Red Cross across the US, is bargaining with the American Red Cross over the national addendum to the unions’ contracts, which expires on 31 March 2022.

She also expressed frustration with American Red Cross’s proposal to cut the employees’ health insurance benefits, saying she is concerned that cutting healthcare will worsen staffing problems. She also criticized the organization for not paying workers to quarantine after being exposed to donors or coworkers who test positive for Covid-19.

“Staff are being sent home for 10 to 14 days at a time, unpaid,” added Terrell. “We’re on the frontlines doing the job for them of collecting these life-saving products and basically they’re telling us that it’s at our own risk.”

Huh. I just assumed that the American Red Cross was above reproach. I was wrong.

Delaware Prisoner Overcomes Prison Cover-Up.  Does anyone think this coverup is the exception, not the rule?

What do you want to talk about?

  1. You should read this obituary for two-time Senate candidate Ray Clatworthy.

Although I’ve learned not to disparage those who have departed (yes, I’ve made a mistake or two here on DL), I can’t let this go from this alleged ‘Christian’ family:

“As a patriot, he ran for United States Senate in Delaware twice against a gentleman for whose name we are at a loss.”

No, he was at a loss. Twice. He won’t be missed.

    • Point of Order says:

Poor home training. They should have put the period after after “twice.” No need to say you didn’t win. Otherwise, the obit would read, “US Senator.” The person writing the obit should have been more gracious so that his public service could be acknowledged. RIP.

    • Arthur says:

I don’t understand the “dont speak ill of the dead” if they were an a-hole in life I am quite sure they are no better in death.
