MAGAts Call Trump A Wuss.  What kind of would-be insurrectionist doesn’t rally his supporters in their time of need?:

Edward Jacob Lang, a 25-year-old from upstate New York charged with assaulting a police officer with a bat, made his last-ditch, Trump-focused cry for help during a Wednesday evening interview with far-right personality Stew Peters.

“You better do a press conference, man,” he concluded, addressing the ex-president. “We are rotting in jail because we stood up for what you told us to stand up for!”

Subsequently, Peters, echoing an increasingly common sentiment in Trumpworld, voiced his own frustration with Trump for nixing the press conference he’d planned for Thursday, reportedly due to informal advisors cautioning the ex-president that the media event could backfire.

“We had hoped that Trump would address all of the evidence that the chaos of January 6th was orchestrated by agent provocateurs,” the right-wing radio shock jock fumed. “Instead, Mar-a-Lago has signaled today a surrender of the narrative.”

Earlier Wednesday morning, former Trump advisors Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon made their own last-minute pleas to the ex-president to place his counter-programming event back on the books.

“The person who should be holding a press conference tomorrow, above anybody, pounding on the frickin’ table—particularly given [the] cesspool in Georgia, the cesspool of Arizona—is Donald John Trump,” Navarro said on Bannon’s War Room Pandemic podcast.

“Call the press conference!” said Bannon.

County officials said the blunt rebuttal, released on the eve of the anniversary of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, was intended to highlight the ongoing dangers of unfounded claims of mass election fraud.

“We have seen how people react when they think that an election has been stolen. They storm the U.S. Capitol. They threaten to kill and hang and shoot election workers. And they called other Americans traitors,” Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Bill Gates (R) said Wednesday. “The American family cannot stand for that. I will not stand for that.”

The new report, produced by the Maricopa County Elections Department, concluded that the work of the private contractors hired by the GOP-led state Senate amounted to “faulty analysis, inaccurate claims, misleading conclusions” and was based on “a lack of understanding of federal and state election laws.”

It found that of the claims made by the Senate and its contractors (Cyber Ninjas), 22 were “misleading,” 41 were “inaccurate” and 13 were “demonstrably false.”

Google Reaps Profits Over Fossil Fuel Ads Masquerading As Legit Search Results.  Call it ‘endemic greenwashing’. Bottom line:

Jake Carbone, senior data analyst at InfluenceMap, said: “Google is letting groups with a vested interest in the continued use of fossil fuels pay to influence the resources people receive when they are trying to educate themselves.”

“The oil and gas sector has moved away from contesting the science of climate change and now instead seeks to influence public discussions about decarbonization in its favour.”

Time for Mini-Screed #2 Of 2022.  I’m not a fan of Darius Brown.  I’ve made that clear time and time again.  I’ve been particularly critical of his selling out the residents of Minquadale in exchange for campaign contributions from Bob Byrd and Waste Management.  I think that he should be primaried by someone more progressive.  However, the contrast between the alleged offenses of both Brown and Andria Bennett, the contrast in press coverage, and, especially, the contrast in outcomes, could not be more stark.

I read the WDEL report from the trial, which I think presents a fair picture of what happened.  The crime for which he is being tried is a misdemeanor.  I’m far from the first person to point this out, but Brown’s head shot has been ubiquitous since charges were first filed.  I support what the Senate has done in terms of removing Brown from certain key committees.  Especially Judiciary, since he has been the subject of litigation.

Contrast that, though, with what didn’t happen in the case of Rep. Andria Bennett.  Her husband called the police alleging he was the victim of an assault by Bennett. He presented with injuries. The Dover Police did not make their report public until they were required to do so.  Left to their own devices, this cover-up would have died in some desk drawer.  Brad Bennett declined to press charges.  The whole thing went away.  Can there be any doubt that what Andria Bennett did was demonstrably a worse offense than what Darius Brown did? A far worse offense?

The result?  Not only have Trooper Pete and the Kop Kabal done nothing to sanction Bennett, (in fact they gave her an additional committee chairmanship), but the City Of Dover, home to the same police who covered up her assault on her husband, has punished Andria by giving her close to a six-figure job as Chief Administrator to the Dover City Council.

I do not yet know the outcome of the Brown trial.  However, whatever the outcome, I think he has been properly sanctioned by the Senate, and I think, barring further revelations, that he should be allowed to finish out his term.  Bennett, OTOH, should not be allowed to double-dip from now through June.  She should be gone. By the end of this month.

    From WDEL:

“Only the back of Brown was visible on the far left side of the screen briefly during the alleged incident, and witnesses detailed where they were in the restaurant at the time of the video on display, but none showed or said they saw Brown actually strike the woman. ”

Unless I am missing something, based on this it is going to be difficult to convict Brown in an actual court of law. But he is black so there’s that.

Had the opportunity to briefly (about 25 minutes or so) check in on today’s meeting of the Justice 40 Oversight Committee. Rep. Larry Lambert and Sen. Marie Pinkney lead this committee, which is charged with studying and making recommendations concerning environnmental justice in Delaware, and ensuring that suitable funding goes to traditionally-underserved communities.

These are serious people doing serious work. It was great to see that both Keri Evelyn Harris and Eugene Young are involved with this committee.

    100% agree.
