Make them vote “No”

Filed in National by on January 18, 2022

Senator Elizabeth Warren was on TV this morning saying that  if the Dems had any fighting spirt it at all, they’d take the elements of the BBB plan and hold votes on them to make Republicans (plus Chris Coons, Joe Manchin, et al) vote against:

  • expanded free preschool for all 3- and 4-year-olds,
  • high-quality care for older Americans and people with disabilities in their homes
  • making the wealthy and corporations pay what they owe
  • and so on.

It is that or make like John Carney and say that your hands are tied.

Damn right. If you know you’re not going to get 60 votes, what the hell.
If they’re against helping preschoolers or adults with disabilities, or they don’t want corporations to pay their fair share of taxes, make them vote no.
At least it would provide some ammo for the candidates who will be running against the Regressives in November.

I understand the theory behind the whole huge bill idea but have always wanted each piece of it to be voted on so you can see who supports what.

Depressingly, if Warren is saying this publicly, then she has already tried and failed to get Nancy Pelosi to send her those bills.

      Yeah, that was my thought.
Oh well. This current dem pres was always gonna be a loser last-ghasp before America fell for good. At least it was a schmuck like biden. Maybe later, Warren will be reimbursed as someone who fought

Yeah, I don’t get why they don’t break it up and put everyone on record? Parties suck.

Joe’s idea of a New Deal is a delusion of grandeur. Just like the impeachments, BBB is a game the dems know they can’t win but are playing for (ceremonial?) purposes. Cut the losses, try to get 4 or 5 provisions out before midterms so dem incumbents don’t go home empty handed
