As loyal readers know, I am an aficionado of the game of human chess known as pro rasslin’.  With their bloated contracts, WWE is almost idiot-proof.  Which is good, because they’re run by an idiot. My latest example: When a wrestler, even a well-known popular wrestler, comes to WWE, they must change their name to something that WWE has trademarked so that WWE can reap the merch sales profits.  Which explains some of the terrible monickers the wrestlers are saddled with.  Enter WALTER.  Considered perhaps the biggest draw in Europe, he has appeared on WWE’s NXT UK brand.  The WALTER name preceded his signing with WWE.  He’s now moving to the US, and WWE felt compelled to change his name.  In this case, to Gunther Stark, the name they’d trademarked just for him.  Just one problem, though.  One that could have been avoided with a simple Google search:

They say there’s no such thing as bad publicity.  Meaning, presumably they’re loving this from Sports Illustrated:

WWE Files Trademark for Ring Name Shared by Nazi Officer.

It’s Official. Biden’s An Idiot: “I did not anticipate that there would be such a stalwart effort to make sure that the most important thing was to make sure Biden didn’t get anything done,” he said. “What are Republicans for? What are they for? Name me one thing they are for.”  Perhaps he should have consulted with Obama’s Veep before taking office.

Supreme Court Dismisses Trump’s Pleas To Keep His Papers Hidden.  Only the odious Clarence Thomas allegedly found something in the Constitution to enable him to kiss Trump’s bee-hind.

Florida County Health Officer Encourages Employee Vaccinations, Gets Suspended.  No wonder Trump is going after DeSantis: He is Trump’s logical heir.

Yep. Portland Police Training Material Encouraged Beating Of Left-Wing Protesters:

Portland, Oregon’s mayor announced just before the weekend that the city’s police department is investigating itself over a training presentation featuring a meme encouraging cops to use violence against left-wing protesters.

The meme shows an officer in riot gear beating a protester described as a “dirty hippy.” The message, addressed to demonstrators in the form of mock Bible verses, suggests officers would “christen your heads with hickory, And anoint your faces with pepper spray.”

“And once thou hast been cuffed and stuffed; Once though hast been stitched and bandaged,” it continued, “Perhaps thou shall learn, I’m tired of your shit. Amen.”

    Re: Biden’s an idiot.

Jim Clyburn was right, he was the guy we could get elected.

But we were right when we said it wouldn’t work out well.

  2. Ben says:

So before the dems start trying to use the “you better vote for Joe or else trump will win” line, lets start the “no way in fuck I’m voting for Joe. Better give me someone else, or trump will win”

  3. puck says:

If Biden is an idiot, what does that make House progressives who caved on BIF/BBB linkage?

  4. bamboozer says:

Admit it, Alby’s got the right idea, get the hell out and go somewhere with a higher degree of sanity.

Wasn’t trump a WWf kind of guy

    • Yep. He’s in the WWE Hall Of Fame. He and Vince had a hair vs. hair match (via surrogates). Vince lost and got the buzzcut.

Any C-list celebrity who deigned to give WWE the time of day is in their fake HOF.

  6. nathan arizona says:

“Liberal” and “progressive” aren’t necessarily the same thing, either.

  7. nathan arizona says:

I thought about not using that word. Guess I’d say they’re similar in opposing fascism and other right-wing isms.

By the way, you might like a new (in paperback) novel called “The Cold Millions,” by Jess Walter. Wobblies, hoboing and class strife in the early-20th century Pacific Northwest.

  8. puck says:

Chris Coons, who voted to repeal the voting-rights filibuster (under assurances from Manchin and Sinema), is now fundraising off protecting voting rights. From a Coons email today:

“Puck — we must continue to push for action. In the words of my late friend and hero, John Lewis, we must never give up.”

and then asks for a contribution to Chris Coons. Not for some red-to-blue Senate candidate, but for himself.
