‘Bulo’s Fave Tunes: January 2022

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, Featured by on February 1, 2022

Only one song from last January’s list made it onto my 50 Fave Tunes Of 2021. (It finished at #2, but still…)  That will not be the case this time around.  A remarkable month for new music. Gee…should I expand this year’s list to, oh, 100?  Didn’t think so:

I agree with you about the Gang of Youths video. Kind of cheerful. I also like the darker Bambara video and I can’t stop playing the music, which surprises me a little. I didn’t know about this group. You’re right about Ex-Void – I put it toward the top, but it couldn’t out-muscle Bambara for No. 1.

I enjoyed the Anais Mitchell song, but I like her better with Bonnie Light Horseman (her side project, as you well know). It would be a coup to get her to Arden. The Robert Glasper is great, but I like him better when he’s closer to ’60s/’70s spiritual jazz mode. I like the guttersnipe vocals on the Fontaines D.C. The Soul Glo video is very funny, but I’d have to be in the right mood for more of the music.

    Another good list.
