Who is the Delaware Way Hack Being Snuck Into Fill Brady’s Lame Duck Term?

Filed in National by on February 2, 2022

The RD4 committee looked around for an old white retired lump of Delaware Way mediocrity to fill Brady’s lame duck term and they are now pushing…wait for it…. Bud Freel.

Feel is favored by the committee star chamber over the districts’s consensus choice, Adriana Bohm.   A current Red Clay board member, college professor who is active in her community –  Bohm is missing one key credential.  She is not a Delaware Way lackey.

This lame duck term is bound to be eventful.  When LEBOR, tenets rights or legal weed end up in a close vote, the hidebound Dems know they can count on the old potato.

One old Irish potato out. One old Irish potato in.

    Classic Delaware Way.

(For those confused, RD Dem Comittee picks the Dem candidate for the special GENERAL Election.)

Dr. Bohm is absolutely astounding. She has been the moral voice of the Red Clay board over the last decade and she’s got the scars to prove it. She was considering a run for the seat a few months ago but then the 4th was moved to Sussex and she suspended the campaign.

She’d be a vast improvement over Krista Griffith, which will be her new representative. Do we have any analysis here about if a progressive could win this new 12th District considering a nice chunk of Wilmington is a part of it?

Krista is going to need to switch it up real fast with this new district. She plays too closely to the moderate wing of the party to be in touch with the city.

    • Just spent the last 15 minutes or so reading up on Dr. Bohm.

I think that she’d be an amazing candidate and, yes, I think she could defeat Krista Griffith. While it wouldn’t be easy, I think she could galvanize some great grassroots support, build a volunteer machine, and win the primary.

Thanks to the redistricting, the 12th is pretty much a safe district for D’s now. I say ‘Go for it!’

  3. I knew it, I KNEW it. Freel and Brady jointly conspired to inappropriately pave the St. Anthony’s Senior Center parking lot with state funds. Freel was the DELDOT guy, Brady was the legislative guy.

You can’t get more Delaware Way than Bud Freel. Predictable. Pathetic.

I thought I used to be able to look up RD committee officers on the DelDems website. Now when I go to https://www.deldems.org/about/local-party, I get ACCESS DENIED when I click on the county links. What’s up with that?

    • All I know is that the last time I checked on the NCC Dems website, which was just a couple of days ago, they still had the previous officers listed as the current officers.

To put it mildly, we’re not living in the halcyon days of Erik Raser-Schramm and Jesse Chadderdon.

    • Puck, you’re absolutely correct:

We’ve got weak leadership at the state party level.

I believe that the names were removed on, wait for it, January 6th last year as a security precaution. It’s possible that the underlying page wasn’t updated and it was accidentally unprotected, but I wouldn’t know that.

If you need any info, feel free to reach out to the party by phone. They can put you in touch with the RD4 chair. (Jim Hussey, as noted below).

Dr Bohm was featured on a recent episode the Highlands Bunker podcast… she’s good. Bud stinks.

Signed… an RD 4 (for now) registered Democrat

  6. So has the 4th RD Committee chosen Freel already?

    • RE Vanella says:

Committee votes on Monday is my understanding.

Yes, politicking/campaigning is ongoing. You’ll likely not be surprised to learn I’m not optimistic!

      • Someone is big-footing the committee members. It makes no sense, otherwise, to anoint a lame duck to the post.

Committee members would do well to consider why naming someone who could more positively impact the community over the long haul makes more sense. If Dr. Bohm were nominated, she could run for RD 12, could leverage her support for Griffith (if it came to that) into tangible results for the community, and/or she could also use that as a springboard to seek another office.

The alternative?: Having someone from Fairfax representing you w/o even exercising any political influence. I’m not even dissing Rep. Griffith here, just pointing out the pointlessness of engaging in unilateral electoral surrender.

  7. RE Vanella says:

I will vote in the special and I will not vote for Bud Freel. Depending on the other candidates I very well may actively advocate for someone else. It’s only 3 ½ months in whatever till the RD dissolves.

Fuck it burn it down. Big Murph lives in the neighborhood lol

  8. RE Vanella says:

Party RD Committee…. in this instance they’re ‘the party’ right?

Of course other party officials have to pretend to be neutral.

    • Yes, the RD committee designates the nominee. I just find it hard to believe that the committee would nominate a caretaker when they could jump-start the career of someone who actually LIVES in the district.

That’s why I figured someone higher up in the party hierarchy was big-footing the committee members.

      • RE Vanella says:

Imagine the demographics of the current RD4. Now overlay that with what you know about the historic make up of Democratic RD committees in general.

We’re the home of the Mike Purzycki Democrat. Literally.

        I mean it ain’t over till it’s over…. but…

A Grifting family since i met them on the Jim Soles for Congress campaign in ’74. I will say Kevin ran a nice gin mill and was interesting in the Anne Marie documentary. the other 2/ No comment:)

    • RE Vanella says:

Jim Soles was the Chair of the Poli Sci dept when I was at UD. Had him for intro to the law…

      Kevin was a good dude.

      • Joe Connor says:

FYI the Treasurer of the Soles ’74 campaign was a UD grad student and Naval Reserve Pilot one Thomas R. Carper 🙂
