Yesterday was a bad day for non-cis, non-het Americans. Maybe if we only compromised harder, they’d meet us in the middle. Eh, Coonsie?

Florida’s House of Representatives passed a bill Thursday that would prohibit “classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity” in the state’s primary schools.

The legislation — titled the Parental Rights in Education bill but dubbed by critics the “Don’t Say Gay” bill — heads to the state’s Republican-held Senate, where it is expected to pass. Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican who is running for re-election and is widely considered to be a potential 2024 presidential candidate, has previously signaled his support for the legislation and is expected to sign it into law.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is calling on “licensed professionals” and “members of the general public” to report the parents of transgender minors to state authorities if it appears the minors are receiving gender-affirming medical care.

The directive was part of a letter Abbott, a Republican, sent Tuesday to the Department of Family and Protective Services, calling on it to “conduct a prompt and thorough investigation” of any reported instances of minors undergoing “elective procedures for gender transitioning.”

Abbott’s letter follows an opinion released Monday by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, which stated that allowing minors to receive transition care such as puberty blockers, hormone therapy and surgery is child abuse under state law.

The cruelty is the point.

    Ketanji Brown Jackson.

this means nothing, but three Republicans voted last year to confirm Jackson to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit: Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Lindsey Graham (S.C.).

    Who am I to judge?

[Pope] Francis has called for dialogue to end the conflict and has urged the faithful to set next Wednesday as a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Ukraine.

But he has refrained from publicly calling out Russia, presumably for fear of antagonizing the Russian Orthodox Church, with which he is trying to build stronger ties.

Steve Bannon, Erik Prince, Tucker Carlson et al should be removed from the airwaves and tried for treason and sedition. They are propagandists for despotic authoritarian murderers and they are actively and deliberately undermining American national security and democracy. Enough is enough. Just as there is no “free-speech” exemption for screaming “fire” in a crowded theater there is no exemption for lighting the match and setting the fire. Charge, try, convict and imprison these repulsive enemies of America.
