This statement released by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) on the occasion of Trump pulling his endorsement of Brooks should be bombshell news that pushes all other news into irrelevance. It will not, of course. Our 4th estate is useless.
President Trump asked me to rescind the 2020 elections, immediately remove Joe Biden from the White House, immediately put President Trump back in the White House, and hold a new special election for the presidency. As a lawyer, I’ve repeatedly advised President Trump that January 6 was the final election contest verdict and neither the U.S. Constitution nor the U.S. Code permit what President Trump asks. Period.
I’ve told President Trump the truth knowing full well that it might cause President Trump to rescind his endorsement. But I took a sworn oath to defend and protect the U.S. Constitution. I honor my oath. That is the way I am. I break my sworn oath for no man.

I’ve been having an online discussion with a trump fan, and he thinks every single democrat is either a communist or a socialist. I thought that was food for thought.

The left obviously has better values, but it kind of disturbs me when both sides use the same tactics, are equally rigid and see it all as a zero-sum kind of thing. Especially when the non-activist public seems more afraid of the far left than the far right. You gotta win elections. I sure don’t think I’m “pure among men.” In fact, I think the quest for purity is part of the problem.

It is pretty amazing that we’re now kinda praising Brooks — who wore body armor to the insurrection and said to the lunatics that “today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass!” — but I guess that’s where America is now.
