Song of the Day 4/30: The Boo Radleys, “Wake Up Boo!”
Not woke yet, or just feeling a bit lacking in the wokeness department? Let the Boo Radleys remedy that. The Boo Radleys were an early ’90s Liverpool indie four-piece that released its most commercial album, “Wake Up!” in 1995, just in time for the Britpop boom that made Oasis internationally famous. Their LP caught the […]

Western Artillery Flows Into Ukraine. Is there any hope that this war can be contained? I’m going with ‘No’: The Western artillery flooding into Ukraine will alter the war with Russia, setting off a bloody battle of wits backed by long-range weapons and forcing both sides to grow more nimble if they hope to avoid […]
Everything is Relative
Boebert (who assembled her four young children in front of a Christmas tree and had them pose with AR-15s for social media likes) is sick of being lumped in with Greene because Greene is cR@Zy!!
Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert reportedly almost came to blows over Greene’s appearance at a white nationalist event in February, to the point that someone had to step in between them to de-escalate the confrontation. Three people close to the Freedom Caucus confirmed the spat to Politico, which took place during a meeting of the caucus’ board of directors.

You Know Less About Dogs Than You Thought You Knew. Why? Because we humans like to check off boxes that aren’t always correct. Oh, and we deal in stereotypes: Breed means very little in predicting the behavior and personality of an individual dog, the researchers found. That appears to be especially true for traits that […]
Song of the Day 4/29: Kool and the Gang, “Too Hot”
Maybe it’s too common to be news anymore, but the Indian subcontinent is suffering under a brutal heat wave. Temperatures have been 10 degrees above normal for weeks and have reached 112°F. In related news, CO2 levels at Mauna Loa set a new record at over 422 ppm this week. “Too Hot” was the second […]
Are you now, or have you ever been woke?
My cousin twice removed, Adrian Scott, was a screenwriter and one of the Hollywood Ten. He was blacklisted for refusing to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). He was a lefty. I never knew him and wasn’t around for it, but I imagine that the thing that made the “Red Scare” scary was […]

1. Dem Kingmakers Unite Behind Marcus Henry To Succeed Matt Meyer. Why did all of these ‘influencers’ flock to Henry’s side for his announcement? Here are my thoughts. First, as we all know, Matt Meyer is running for Governor in 2024, which is when his term as NCC Executive expires. Still, like John Carney, Henry […]
DeSantis doesn’t want to win an election. He wants to win a war.
The competent Trump. That’s the brand DeSantis is trying to build. These similarities reflect a certain ideological convergence between the post-Trump Republican Party and Fidesz: a belief in the central importance of cultural war and the need to wage it using state power. Broadly speaking, both Orbán and DeSantis characterize themselves as standing for ordinary […]
Biden is about to choke on this Student Debt layup, landing funny on his ankle breaking it
I hate being able to see the future with such clarity. But Joe listens to too many sober centrist moderates. (That’s generous, maybe the sober centrist moderate he is listening to Joe Biden’s internal monologue? Who knows.) Anyway, he could forgive student debt and let the Republicans & Coons have their conniption fit. They’ll have […]
Song of the Day 4/28: Gary Glitter, “Rock and Roll (Part 1)”
There’s no other way to put it — the French just think differently from everybody else. Paul Gadd was just 15 when, calling himself Paul Raven, he cut his first single in 1960. He had a small-time career until the glam rock craze hit Britain in 1971, at which point he changed his name to […]

D’s ‘Shocked’ That Ohio Union Members Love Trump. Not to mention, Rethugs’ relentless gerrymandering has placed D seats at risk. Right on cue, NY Court rules rare D redistricting unconstitutional. It’s starting to look like Hungarian democracy is the best we can hope for. Assisted every step of the way by so-called D centrists who […]
Coons On Morning Joe This Morning “pushing” for Congress to “do more” for Ukraine
This is a very loose transcript. Coons managed to restrain his usual warmongery. Although he doesn’t think Biden is being Kennedy-esque enough in the face of Putins threats to use nukes. _________________________________ Morning Joe Panel Guy: You’ve talked about the need to restore deterrence. Coons: We need to restore deterrence capabilities of NATO, and we need […]
Least Surprising Stories From the NYT – Labor Going Hard for Trump in Ohio
With the Sober, Moderate, Centrist Democratic Party offering NOTHING to working class voters beyond complicated, means tested tax credits, of course they’ll go for the anti-NAFTA nationalist. Labor’s Disenchantment in Ohio Puts Even Democratic Veterans at Risk As unions decline and their members maintain their affections for Donald J. Trump, Democrats like Representative Marcy Kaptur […]
