1. Catch-22 Question: If You File For Office As An R And You’re Sane, Does That Make You By Definition INsane? No, not a mere speculative question.  One Greg Coverdale has filed as an R for State Treasurer.  He appears to be sane and, dare I say it, credible.  Were he the R candidate for State Auditor and running against the corrupt incumbent, I’d probably vote for him based on what little I know. Here’s what little I know:

Not bad.  I like Colleen Davis, though.  I love the work that she and Larry Lambert did on that Delaware EARNS bill.  I’d suggest he switch to challenge Rethug Janice Lorrah in an Auditor primary.  However, she’s full-blown MAGAt all the way, meaning she’d win the primary. Such is the fate of a sane candidate in a rogue Party.  (BTW, his use of the green and blue show that he’s from the threadbare Castle wing of the Party.)

2.  Looks Like The ‘Delaware Way’ Dems Are Playing A Dirty Trick Against Keri Harris. They’ve found their ‘Black’ candidate to siphon off her support.  One LaVaughn McCutchen.  Wanna know why he’s running?:

I’m LaVaughn McCutchen and i am running for 32nd district state representative for Dover Delaware. I feel I am qualified for the office that I am running for because I feel have the knowledge of what the people want/need,reason being is because I am the people. Its time for the younger generation to take over with a fresh mindset and fresh ideas. The time is now to pass the torch. Lets make a better tomorrow together!

Wanna know why he’s running?  That’s all I’ve got.  In other words, he’s running to split the Black vote. Politics ain’t beanbag.  And Pete ‘n Val are not going down without a fight. He finished a distant third in a race for an open seat on Dover City Council back in 2021.  If he takes 20% of the vote from KEH, the Chamber guy could win.  Wonder who paid his filing fee.

3. D Terrell Williams Files Against Hensley In RD 9.  We knew he was running. He made it official this week.  Here’s his website.

4. Rae Moore Gets An R Opponent.   David W. Thomas. Guess what?  He’s an ex-cop.  Are Pete ‘n Val recruiting against the progressive D’s in the Caucus? No, not merely a speculative question.  That’s two ex-cops running against progressive freshman legislators in two weeks.  Two Black ex-cops.  The other?  This guy.  Has he resigned yet? He has to, and he’s filed.  Maybe Pete will ignore this one, too.  Hey maybe LEOBOR exempts him. Running in a D primary against Eric Morrison.  Come to think of it, the House Kop Kabal has its own version of LEOBOR…

That’s all I’ve got this week. What’d I miss, and whaddayathink?

How did you get that Coverdale wasn’t insane from the web page? Pretty thin. Given his party affiliation, I’d need a lot more evidence that he isn’t crazy as fuck.

Eric Morrison looks to be facing a similar scenario in the 27th. A Black police officer is primarying him. Michael Hertzfeld is his name. Not sure if he’s filed, but he’s posted on Facebook.

Also this week…Delaware State Sportsman Association PAC sent a flier out in the 26th RD telling Republicans to switch their registration to D so they can vote in the primary, presumably for Kelly Williams Maresca.

    • Yes. I duly noted Morrison’s opponent. Let’s see if the Kop Kabal leadership maxes out to Morrison. They’d better…

I’m awaiting the return of that ‘mysterious’ candidate with the African name who showed up as a third candidate in the D primary in 2020 in order to siphon Black votes from Wilson-Anton. Almost worked then.

It just happened yesterday in Keri Evelyn Harris’ race.

Progressive policies are popular with voters. And the trope that ‘only centrists can win’ is proving more laughable every week.
