Convicted State Auditor, Kathy McGuiness, is still ridiculous.  (See below).

The “independent state legislature” theory is both transparently idiotic and a major threat to American democracy

The only operative unifying theory in all of these (“INDEPENDENT STATE LEGISLATURE” THEORY) cases is “Republicans are entitled to govern even if voters prefer Democrats.”

I have no doubt that “Republican Rule by Divine Right” could get 5 votes in the Supreme Court now.

Also, on a related note…Remember when Chris Coons worked so feverishly to rush a record number of Trump appointed federal judges into service?   I wonder if he has any regrets.

Late stage capitalist can’t be content with collecting most of the money at the top of the food chain, they need all of the money.  And when they see a juicy  opportunity to squeeze even more profits out of our Alabama manufacturing plants they bloody well take it.  I mean, being anti-union is a good start, but (undocumented, trafficked) child labor right here in the good ‘ol  Yoo, Ess, Ay …now that’s the ticket!

From Reuters:

A subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Co has used child labor at a plant that supplies parts for the Korean carmaker’s assembly line in nearby Montgomery, Alabama, according to area police, the family of three underage workers, and eight former and current employees of the factory.

Underage workers, in some cases as young as 12, have recently worked at a metal stamping plant operated by SMART Alabama LLC, these people said. SMART, listed by Hyundai in corporate filings as a majority-owned unit, supplies parts for some of the most popular cars and SUVs built by the automaker in Montgomery, its flagship U.S. assembly plant.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, at least three of the children at the center of this case are immigrants. The Reuters investigation began after a 14-year-old Guatemalan girl went missing back in February. The girl’s father confirmed that his daughter and two sons — the oldest being 15 — all worked at the plant.

  1. ‘It is described as’…

Of course, ‘it is described as the largest Brady violation’ by the convict and her lawyer. Hard to find more impartial observers than that.

And no word on what it is, either.

You could make a pretty easy case that Delaware’s female elected officials are, on the whole, even worse than the males. It’s a strong argument against people who think that female leadership would somehow differ from the male version.

      • I see the impact that female legislators have had on the State Senate, so I’ve gotta disagree. The elections of Sarah McBride, Marie Pinkney, and Kyle Evans Gay in 2020 caused a sea change in that Caucus.

Of course, the Val Longhursts and Nicole Poores of this world help disprove my point…

Just interviewed Colleen Davis (yesterday afternoon) for this week’s podcast. She seems perfectly competent and professional. Definitely an establishment liberal. Not my favorite brand by any means. But the state’s money is safe. Thank christ McGuiness ain’t the Treasurer is what I’m saying.

As do Karen Weldin Stewart, Sherry Freebery, Stephanie Bolden, Jane Brady, Andria Bennett … need I go on? Because I can, easily.

          • RE Vanella says:

what decade are we referring to… lol.

          • Pete Schwartzkopf, Larry Mitchell, Darius Brown, Mayor Mike, Nnamdi, Chip Flowers, Lumpy Carson, Bill Bush, Tom Gordon…need I go on? Because I can, easily.

          • Alby says:

@El Som: Yes, that was my point. Women and men act pretty much the same when you give them power, that is, a percentage of them (a dismayingly high percentage) will become jerks if they weren’t jerks already.

Is that clear enough for you?

            • Sure. But you said, “You could make a pretty easy case that Delaware’s female elected officials are, on the whole, even worse than the males.”

              That’s what I disagree with.

“The elections of Sarah McBride, Marie Pinkney, and Kyle Evans Gay in 2020 ”

Which may hinge on who turned out to vote that year. So if women won’t turn out to vote for left of center candidates with integrity who happen to be male, I guess we have to run more women candidates.

  2. Liz Cheney says the committee will ‘surely’ consider subpoenaing, wait for it, Ginny Thomas if Thomas persists in refusing to testify voluntarily.

I think the surprising thing about Kathy’s discovery of this “evidence” is that it appeared on her campaign FB page and not the State Auditor’s FB page.
