We don’t have Allan Loudell driving around keeping us informed anymore, so it falls to us to report any any polling places comings and goings here.

    • SussexWatcher says:

So she is campaigning in Dover at a polling place in RD31, where there’s no local primary, vs. RD32, where there’s a 4-way primary.

And she apparently spent 20 minutes in SD6, where Huxtable supporters are organized and motivated.

      Great job, Lydia and Betsy.

  2. ScarletWoman says:

Early turnout at Mt. Pleasant Elementary is fairly (relatively) brisk. Due to redistricting a number of polling places have changed, and folks have not looked carefully at their polling place card. We have also still had to turn R’s and non-affiliated away.

    • Ben says:

You mean you GOT to turn Rs away.
Nothing would give me more joy than telling a magat “you aren’t allowed to vote”
Also why I’m not a suitable election worker.

  3. highlander says:

Voted about 8:30 at Highlands Episcopal Church this morning and I was the only voter there.

  4. jason330 says:

I was voter #2 of 2 at Appo Admin building. Only York and the convicted auditor were on the ballot.

That turns out to be not my polling place so I’ll get to see what turnout in my slice of the 9th is tonight at Crossroads Church on Vance Neck rd

  5. jason330 says:

I think the auditors race can be decided by less than 25 votes.

  6. Mark Brunswick says:

I’m on Shane’s text thread. It’s active. She’s got good coverage and presence. I’m taking a shift later in the day. It’s interesting that York waited until today to have a campaign presence.

    • Nancy Willing says:

She’s had prior “campaign presences”, no? I saw the photos.

I wonder if anyone can verify the rumor that her big $$ hire campaign manager quit?

    • Joe Connor says:

Second that, re Shane’. I delivered a lot of breakfast sandwiches. She has tents at almost all polling places and at least 2 greeters, solid. NO York presence i could discern and no KMG either.
York’s schedule reflects the totally crap campaign we have seen. Betsy Maron needs a new title, Former Chair!!!!!!!

  7. mediawatch says:

No one but the poll workers at First Unitarian Church in the 12th. Almost as fast as the self-checkout at Wawa.

  8. Marcella says:

Voted at 10:30 at Woodlawn Library and was voter #10.

  9. I can only hope that the people on here dissing the York campaign did something to, you know, help.

    • Joe Connor says:

You mean like hundreds of dollars, hours of work and directly confronting the Speaker of the House? that?

      • You’ve certainly done your fair share.

I’m talking about all those who are dissecting the campaign’s ‘failures’ who haven’t lifted a finger to help.

        • Alby says:

Not my job. That’s what money is for. I have never told anyone who to vote for, and never would.

        • SussexWatcher says:

          Good grief, stop the sanctimony.

For me, I tried to volunteer twice and never got a reply. There’s a sign in my yard. I talked her up with friends and family. I don’t have the funds to donate right now. I’ve done my part.

If Lydia York wins, it will be in spite of her campaign.

          • Nah, don’t think I will. If you helped, fine. I’m glad you did. Seriously.

But, to me, those who come on here pontificating about what she SHOULD have done even though THEY didn’t do anything, are the sanctimonious ones.

Which in no way defends this muddle of a campaign.

Why the Party feels the need to spend to bring in outsiders for a campaign like this where the strategy should have been so BLATANTLY OBVIOUS to anyone is beyond me.

They’re now AGAIN bringing in out-of-staters to ‘run’ the coordinated campaign. The guy for our area introduced himself last night. He’s from Virginia with the battle scars to prove it. Nothing against him, but we have far better grassroots organizers in this state who would do a better job.

Of course, many of them are progressives, and the Party mustn’t give them the keys to the car…

          • Alby says:

I think you mean “the party under Maron won’t give them the keys to the car.”

  10. The MoMo says:

Pessimistically, I’m ready to play the blame game on the York campaign. I’ll hold off on old guard involvement, the coordinated campaign, and the lack of direct voter contact both paid and grassroots – likely much more on that later… but anyway, I think the strongest path York has or had to win was Carney. Stoking fear is not just a GOP game. Carney should have been publicly communicating his intentions or legal assessment on MCG from August 1 – will he remove her now, can it bar her from future offices, etc. Voters should hear that the Courts could decide their elected officers, instead of their ballots.
Even one blurb or quote to that effect, used across York scripts and paid contact like mailers next to information on the ease of voting early or by mail would have incentivized action among new registrants and voters who have turned out in 30% of recent primaries and elections who might not otherwise be planning to use their voter voice. But say it could be taken away…

    • Yep. Carney could’ve opened his yap. His passivity just wouldn’t allow him to do it.

I understand BHL–she might have to be the presiding officer during an impeachment proceeding in the Senate.

I DON’T understand LBR. Will someone PLEASE tell me that she actually lent a hand to the campaign? I got a mailing from her yesterday for herself–in addition to the relentless barrage of her begging for contributions. She could have really helped. Has she, in her own mind, outgrown Delaware?

      • TheMoMo says:

True, it’s not like we expect strategy from him like we tend to expect from LBR. LBR’s team is too busy sending dumb emails to pad her coffer for future senate runs, I guess.

  11. ScarletWoman says:

Kind of stunned. Not a heavy turnout but very steady. I wish I could do exit polling because it is not clear which race or what is driving this, but they seem determined and motivated by something.

  12. bamboozer says:

Headed on up to Blackbird, ‘spect I’ll be the only one there, will greet the poll workers as ever.

  13. ScarletWoman says:

El Som, remember what they say about expensive consultants: You hire them to tell you the time, they borrow your watch, tell you the time, and keep the watch.

  14. Joe Connor says:

Just got back from delivering lunch and driving voters in the 13th
Deshanna had good coverage . At Elsmere town Larry had a retinue of hangers on. Still Zero York anywhere. 2 women my age were just showing up putting on their KMG T shirts and posting up, Elsmere was happening !

  15. Arthur says:

Honestly, if it wasnt for this website I would have never heard of York. But i definitely know who KMG is.

  16. Kevin Ohlandt says:

McGuiness is lying on the state website and all over social media. She is claiming her office released 19 school district audits when in reality they released 2. This is just because York mentioned school district audits in a recent news article. I called her out on it over on her Kathy McGuiness for State Auditor Facebook page. People have no idea the lies and fraud she will commit to hold onto power.

  17. From the Democratic Party:

18,098 Democrats have voted throughout the state with 1,806 of those being cast in Wilmington, 8,967 in New Castle, 2,898 in Kent, and 4,427 in Sussex.

    These are 1 pm readings.

    • SussexWatcher says:

Did that include the early and mail-in voting totals?

      • I think so, but don’t know. I know that as of the end of last week, about 7K had cast their votes early.

The reason why I think so is b/c the Party was trying to get the info so campaigns could update their Vote Builder files and GOTV accordingly. I know that Vote Builder was being updated each day last week, with those who voted coming off the list of possible contacts.

  18. Johnny Scarecrow says:

Mrs. Scarecrow & I are one of the 1,800 souls in the big city to cast votes. Tumbleweed was blowing through the halls of Highlands Epis. Church. Not another constituent in sight. Just me and a host of lonely poll volunteers.

KM has got to go. I don’t care if the Dems are running a ham sandwich again her. She’s a deeply corrupt, self-serving malingerer. Send her back to Rehoboth, please.

  19. Mark Brunswick says:

At Department of Labor for Shane. Voting is picking up.

  20. herb says:

I was the only voter at Limestone Church at about 8:30am today. Hopefully turnout increased later in the day.

  21. A says:

Not related to our primary, Ken Starr, the media wh*re who went after the Clintons’ in the 90’s died today.

  22. Talleymom says:

Slow trickle of folks voting at Talley Middle School — My husband & I were votes for York. Since that is the only primary, hopefully everyone who does show up is motivated to vote for York

  23. ScarletWoman says:

Elderly white couple who were registered Rethug were mad they couldn’t vote, ’cause “We came specifically to vote for Kathleen McGuiness.”

  24. BlueJayWay says:

Just got back from voting at Shipley Manor in North Wilmington. We had to fill in a Covid information sheet that included vaccination status and then had to have our temperatures taken before we were allowed into the area of the building where voting was taking place. No election workers were at the temperature check in, so we wondered what would have happened if we had a fever. Seems like there were a few ways we could have been barred from entry from voting.

    • Liberal Commoner says:

This is definitely raising a yellow flag. Public health is important, but any kind of test to be allowed to vote is a problem. We’ll need to make sure there’s a protocol in place in November to make sure potentially sick people are allowed to vote. Maybe work it into the Early Voting/Mail-In Voting messaging too.

      • BlueJayWay says:

We called the Democratic Party (Dept of Elections and ACLU were closed) and they were very friendly and receptive to our concerns. They also mentioned we were not the first people to tell them about these problems.

        • The idea of having polling places at senior facilities is great. Makes it easier to vote for those who might find it challenging to get to an outside polling place.

You’re right, though. We have a mash-up here where Covid requires we make some changes. Glad you followed up on this.

        • Liberal Commoner says:

Talked to some Shipley Manor staff. They were not able to provide any protocol information for this issue. Thanks for following up. I’d hate to see this problem not dealt with as flu season returns.

  25. 4 pm numbers from the Democratic Party:

22,391 Democrats have voted throughout the state with 2,191 of those being cast in Wilmington, 11,198 in New Castle, 3.484 in Kent, and 5,518 in Sussex.

Out of over 362K registered D’s. We’re not gonna get to 10%. Weak.

  26. Andrew C says:

    BREAKING NEWS:

    https://twitter.com/delawareonline/status/1569824017510502402

“President Joe Biden is travelling to Wilmington tonight to cast his ballot in Delaware’s primary race, he told White House reporters.”

    For whom will he vote?

    • That is just too perfect…

Glasgow High, no less. Has he moved out of Suxco for real now?

He used to live in the Newark area. Ran against Paul Clark for NCC Council President back in 2004. Got 41.4% of the vote. Think I voted for him.
