The story hasn’t been updated since Friday night which is odd.  Somebody knows who shot who.  That they haven’t announced anything makes me think some mischief is afoot.  Someone is lawyering up.
We may well find out that someone “felt threatened” and “stood their ground.”  Or some crazy bullshit white people tell courts to avoid going to jail for shooting people.

Giorgia Meloni appears set to become Italy’s most far-right prime minister since Mussolini

Giorgia Meloni presents a danger to the democratic balance in Europe. Her leadership looks to be the antithesis of what Italy needs – and not just at this difficult moment.

The danger arises for Europe because Italy has always been a laboratory: it has foreshadowed the crises of other countries. Italy had Mussolini before Hitler and the leftwing extremist Red Brigades before Action Directe appeared in France and the Red Army Faction followed suit in Germany. Italy had Berlusconi before the US got Trump. And after years of Berlusconi misrule, Italy produced the Five Star Movement, the first populist party led by a comedian, before the rest of Europe caught up. Five Star’s agenda was political disruption, often without any thought to the consequences.

Meloni’s moral and economic inspiration is Viktor Orbán, the man who in recent years has destroyed the opposition in Hungary and achieved legitimacy by weaponising popular consensus. He has provided an ephemeral sense of security but Hungarians have paid for it dearly in the form of economic instability and, above all, the loss of their rights.

DeSantis is as horrible as everyone says he is.  I do like that he is getting under Trumps skin though.

What’s going on with the AG – too many cases? The repetition of ‘no evidence presented’ to date is concerning in cases that matter this much https://www.delawareonline.com/story/news/2022/09/25/federal-judge-bars-enforcement-of-delaware-ghost-gun-restrictions/69517242007/

Re: the game shooting I think they are playing it close to the best to stop it from becoming a weekly happening. Last week there was a shooting at Howard v Conrad and archmere limited spectators to only parents of players and cheerleaders when they played Howard on fridsy

      Maybe.

More guns, and easier access to guns for everyone is clearly the way out of this morass.

As Alby once noted – metal detectors to ensure everyone is carrying a gun. That’s the ticket.

To be clear, Howard was the home team on Saturday vs. Archmere, so Archmere had no ability to limit spectators. That decision was made by the New Castle County Vo-Tech School District after what happened at Appo on Friday night.

Also, Howard played at Brandywine last week, not Conrad. There were rumors of fights in the parking lot, but this is the first I’ve heard of a shooting.

It was a curious PR move by the Appo School District to release a statement very pointedly noting that the “incident” took place off school property. That is correct, but those people likely would not have been congregating in that circle had the football team not been playing. The game was sold out, so the smart move would have been to send police over there and have the circle cleared.

In the past year or so I’ve developed a habit of looking in the NJ classifieds for the concealed carry permits, just to see if there’s anyone in my neighborhood or near where my daughter lives.
But I think there should be two additional requirements for securing a permit:
    (1) posting a notice in front of your residence, just like NCCo requires for rezonings, variances and other Land Use changes;
    (2) listing on your concealed carry application who the hell you think is coming after you.

    • Arthur says:

The problem with the concealed carry is the same as the gun free school zone. If no one wants to abide by it they wont and unless we want to do unlawful search and seizure at every event we cant over come it till all guns are off the streets.
