I listened to Delaware House & Senate Republicans “reaction” to the State Address by Governor Carney so you don’t have to

Hocker opened up slurring through some nonsense that I couldn’t really make out.  Is he drunk or having a stroke?  If it’s a stoke, I don’t want to make too much fun of him. I’m decent that way.

Pettyjohn agrees with Carney on everything, but wants Delaware to shove money into the bank accounts of multi-national companies even faster and with even less oversight.  Turning Delaware into the anti-regulation paradise “just like Texas” appears to be  Pettyjohn’s obsession.  (His campaign for Gov tag line?  Spoiler Alert: It is going to be tough to run to the right of Bethany Hall Long on the issue of making the state an even bigger corporate patsy.)

Ramone wants to know what you, the typical Delawarean, want him to do while in office.  Beyond perhaps asking a min-wage trainee lifeguard, “What are signs someone is having a stroke?”   I got the impression that Ramone did’t listen to the address, or prep for this video at all.   Old “Phone it in Ramone” strikes again!

Yearick closed it out with some bullshit GOP talking points about how tax money is still the people’s(!) money even when they turn it over to the state, and the state uses it to provide essential services.  Just like when you buy something at WALMART.  That’s still YOUR money, no matter what the gol’ dang Walton family says!   So, Lukas Walton!! Stop spending MY money on whores & drinks for Chris Coons at Davos, you motherfucker!!

Mike – Next time if you think Hocker might be stroking out remember: F.A.S.T

Face: Smile and see if one side of the face droops.

Arms: Raise both arms. Does one arm drop down?

Speech: Say a short phrase and check for slurred or strange speech.

Time: If the answer to any of these is yes, call 911 right away and write down the time when symptoms started.

Not counting Brian Pettyjohn’s google search history, is there anything as disgusting as Davos?

No.

That was easy.  Also, I wonder if Coons paid the $250,000 to attend or if that was picked up by some CEO/Coons fanboy?   Also easy.

Davos Attendees Davos the Davos of Davos and Davos more Davos

…the roster of Davos attendees is a veritable OZY Fest poster of the evil, the insufferable, and the extraordinarily dull. Semafor reporters spotted Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, fresh off a set of major layoffs, schmoozing with former GOP Rep. Paul Ryan at a place called Goals House, run by conservative PR guy Matthew Freud, who once fathered and hid a secret child from his then wife, one of Rupert Murdoch’s daughters. They also clocked Sen. Kyrsten Sinema—who, in a possible biblical reference, dressed in sheep’s clothing—at a party hosted by Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly served as White House comms director under Donald Trump. For some reason, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was at Davos, too, and attended “Korea Night.” I would take great pains to avoid any place where I might even accidentally run into these people. Can you imagine spending hundreds of thousands of dollars ($250,000) for the privilege of meeting them?

Attendees reportedly also socialize in private chat groups on WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal, including one called “Burning Man at Davos.” I had never considered the potential intersection of these two events, or what kinds of individuals might lie therein, but the prospect of encountering them makes me want to thrust my head into a wood chipper.

For Republicans, this is no different than forcing a 14 year old rape victim to have a baby, or smoking cigars and blowing the smoke in the face of Nancy Pelosi.  It’s all for the LOLz.

DeSantis Assholery for Assholery’s Sake

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is facing criticism after his administration rejected an Advanced Placement African American Studies course from being taught in Florida schools, the latest curriculum-related action by the governor to draw fierce backlash.

The DeSantis administration made the move earlier this month, when it sent a letter to the College Board Florida Partnership arguing that “the content of this course is inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value.” The letter didn’t name which law the course purportedly violated, and the state’s Department of Education did not clarify that matter when asked by The Hill.

Similar to what happened in Middletown De last year except in Middletown it was the Taco Bell that everyone quit en mass, not the town government.

Who could have predicted?  Republican Paradise Turning into Mogadishu  Style Hell Hole

A staffing shortage and mass resignation has forced the shutdown of Godley City Hall. On Thursday, a series of white signs hung on the municipal building’s doors on West Railroad Avenue. One cites the closure as a result of a staffing shortage. Another requests packages be taken to the fire department across the street. The third tells residents with water and sewer emergencies to contact the police department, which could get in touch of the public works department. It lists three places to file complaints: the police department, the Attorney General’s Office and the Secretary of State.

Davos Epilogue

Ian Bremmer thought Coons was the Chancellor of Germany.  Coons did nothing to disabused Bremmer of that thought.  They danced into the night and were married in a secret ceremony prior to consummating  the relationship as dawn broke, golden, crisp and clear, over the Alps.

Here is the picture of Scholz.

“wonder if Coons paid the $250,000 to attend [Davos]”

Of course Coons didn’t pay, just like frat parties don’t charge women to get in, and for much the same reason.

    “shutdown of Godley City Hall”

I think it’s finally small enough to drown in a bathtub.

  2. bamboozer says:

Partying with Coons…., Oh! The horror! In Davos you see the intense greed of the rich and powerful, to them we all remain “Useful idiots” that they tolerate to become even richer. Some of us are waking up (Aieeee! Woke!) and forming unions, and as such are anathema to the high and mighty rich. And I wear it as unto a crown.

  3. Alby says:

If Putin is going to drop nukes, he could do far worse than aiming one at Davos. When the right people are in town, of course.

    • bamboozer says:

Agreed! Stamp it out at the root! And if your going to nuke get it, and the target, right.

Mandy Fries [Freeze!] is on the poison water in schools case again. Great follow up. New testing yields “alarming” results.

Not to worry though. I’m sure Gov Carney mapped out an ambitious and aggressive plan during his big State of the State address last week to ensure we aren’t poisoning children and their teachers.

I didn’t listen to it, but I’m sure he did.

    • I’m sure he mapped out yet another ambitious plan to hide the results from the parents.

Between Mandy Fries and Meredith Newman, we’ve got two pretty damned good investigative reporters here. No doubt they’ll be moving on and up before too long. Enjoy ’em while we’ve got ’em.

  5. Arthur says:

Since you guys are the experts on all this, where does the state stand with that lawsuit re: the escheat laws of who owns the abandoned property

  6. Talk about yer lame fundraising appeals. This was in my in-box from Betsy Maron, the Democratic State Chair:

“Last week, Governor Carney delivered a visionary State of the State address, highlighting the importance of investing in education, strengthening our economy, and protecting our environment.”

“If we continue working together–as we do in Delaware better than anyone else, we’ll build a future worthy of the next generation”–Gov. John Carney.

“Can you signify your support of Governor Carney and the Democrats’ platform with a donation to the Delaware Democratic Party?”

Uh, no. John Carney doesn’t support the Democrats’ platform, despite the misrepresentation from the Party Chair. Never has. Nor has he ever had a thought that could remotely be described as ‘visionary’.

BTW, the e-mail to me was addressed to someone named ‘Kyle’. Great job all around.

  7. Ben T says:

Has anyone looked at Meyer and BHL’s finance reports? Meyer has $1Million on hand, notwithstanding $380k loaned to himself, which pales in comparison to BHL’s $420k total on hand. Meyer was able to raise a little over double BHL: $680k for Meyer to BHL $320k. Either Meyer is going to emerge as the frontrunner, or this opens it up for a dark horse candidate.

    • I looked at Meyer’s finances. And wrote about them.

Almost immediately after he announced, his newly-formed committee was awash with contributions from the NCC development community and their lawyer mouthpieces. Like, right here:

      https://delawareliberal.net/2022/11/21/meet-nccs-1-consumer-of-development-s/

      • Ben T says:

I’m just saying I think BHL starting weak right out of the gate with Meyer having $1Million creates an interesting situation for a darkhorse candidate or Meyer to actually become the frontrunner and first on TV. Could be Carney vs. Markell 2008 all over again.

        • Jason330 says:

hoo boy, don’t get carried away. I could say that it sounds like team Meyer is getting high on their own supply, but I’ll save that.

Instead I’ll ask, Who has an actual vision that will connect with Dem primary voters? For his many faults, Markell did, Carney didn’t. Does Meyer?

        • Huh says:

          380k of his own money

Trust fund kids from DC can do that

          • Ben T says:

Sure, but that’s still $600k+ raised, which is more than BHL. As El Som said, who has a vision? Not sure Meyer does, but he has the capacity to do so more than BHL, if he ever came up with actual policy ideas. What is BHL’s platform other than healthcare, and where was that platform when they ignored lead in public school water for a year and left it up to the districts to remediate?

        • Huh says:

He wouldn’t be the first to lose a race in Delaware after raising more money. Have you looked at the list. It’s the walking horror show of Delaware land use attorneys and development people. These people are literally destroying Delaware and he is more than happy to take their money and approve their cheaply planned projects Consider me not impressed

  8. RE Vanella says:

The use of the adjective visionary in this context makes me want to reintroduce Delaware’s whipping post.

  9. Jerry Blavat’s funeral to be live-streamed. Betcha he left a funeral playlist behind…:

The article about Davos is worth reading the whole thing. I could not find a link in the text so I tracked it down at the Slate website.
