Song of the Day 1/27: Rage Against the Machine, “Wake Up”
As a service to all the conservative lurkers who want to know all about wokitude, the better to turn “woke” into a pejorative, here it is: This song is what started the whole woke movement. Anyone who hears it turns woke. That’s why they used it at the end of “The Matrix,” a movie made by two dudes who aren’t dudes anymore, that’s how woke they got.
It was one of the tracks on Rage Against the Machine’s eponymous debut album, released on Nov. 3, 1992, the day Clinton got elected. Coincidence? I think not. More like evidence that this was all planned in advance. Check with George Soros, I’m sure he knows all about it.
The now triple-platinum album was critically praised. Even grumpy Robert Christgau, who dismissed the LP and the band as “metal for rap lovers,” liked this song. Hmmm. Makes you think, doesn’t it? Why this particular song about the racism endemic in the federal government? Clearly, all part of the plot.
By now the path should be obvious, conservos — this song must be cancelled. You might want to watch this with the sound off and just read the lyrics, lest you turn woke yourself.
