The Republicans are going to nominate Trump or DeSantis. Both would end American Democracy, but I honestly can’t say which would be worse.

DeSantis Makes 2024 Ambitions Clear As He Pours Gasoline On His ‘Woke’ Education Fire

As he “actively” prepares for a presidential run, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) announced Tuesday that he plans to defund diversity, equity and inclusion programs in every public university in the state.

The plan is part of the Republican governor’s larger plot to remake the Florida public school system into a hub for far-right ideology, which reportedly includes grounding curricula in “the history and philosophy of Western Civilization” and “course correct universities’ missions to align education for citizenship of the constitutional republic and Florida’s existing and emerging workforce needs.”

It’s also seemingly part of a broader scheme for DeSantis to stay in the national news cycle as he riles up the most far-right members of his base ahead of 2024.

The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism, that unveils the national, local, and global impacts of the political machinations of wealthy soldiers for Christ.

A revelatory investigation of the Religious right’s rise to political power. Stewart shows that the real power of the movement lies in a dense network of think tanks, advocacy groups, and pastoral organizations, embedded in a rapidly expanding community of international alliances with like-minded, anti-democratic religious nationalists around the world, including Russia. She follows the money behind the movement and traces much of it to a group of super-wealthy, ultraconservative donors and family foundations. The Christian nationalist movement is far more organized and better funded than most people realize. It seeks to control all aspects of government and society. Its successes have been stunning, and its influence now extends to every aspect of American life, from the white house to state house capitols, from our schools to our hospitals.”

It’s time for college sports teams to cancel Florida.

I have been working with the addicted and the homeless for nearly 40 years as well as dealing with my own issues. i have been to far too many funerals including 2 in ’22. Why am I not surprised that we have our very own version of the Sackler family right here in Delaware. This is an utterly disgusting (but necessary) story!

This has been reported before, but not in Delaware. And the story has been out there for years and years. This woman, Carol Ammon, is still held in high regard. She shouldn’t be.

    • Joe Connor says:

When I think of Opioid villains, I think of the Sacklers and Oxy. Percocet or “percs” were on my radar but not the local connection. The woman’s name was known to me but not the notorious back story. I foolishly thought she was just another Greenville socialite.

  4. bamboozer says:

Not just college sports teams, soon it will be college acceptance boards rejecting what passes for an education in Florida. Suspect it will be DeSantis in 2024, or as others have said “At Last! An opponent Biden can beat!” Hoping for a third party (Bull Moose, Bull Shit!) run from Trump.

In my school days, every year it seemed the last chapter of the history textbooks was the Vietnam conflict (which was still ongoing), or later, the Watergate scandal. Somehow our class never got around to covering the last chapter before the school year ended.

Contemplating the latest horror in Memphis I come to one unchallengeable conclusion, the people responsible are the voters in the political majority in Memphis, who are the change agents in this moment.

The media will betray us yet again by squeezing every nickel out of the Joe Biden papers “story” that they can. Our broadcast media aspire to be nothing more than 21st Century updates of “National Enquirer” slothful journalism.
