Song of the Day 3/14: Toad the Wet Sprocket, “Fall Down”

The collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank shouldn’t surprise anyone. The bank, like the valley, was built on silicon chips, and silicon chips are made of sand. Castles made of sand always fall down.

“Fall Down” was among the string of hits Toad the Wet Sprocket released in the mid-’90s. This one, from their LP “Dulcinea,” topped the Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1994 and reached No. 33 on the Hot 100.

Spoke to my brother in California, a long time denizen of Silicon Valley. He says there have been no “start ups” for five years there, just fake ones designed to soak the bank and then declare bankruptcy in six months. I’ve said it many times, jail the bankers and really solve the problem as opposed to assorted ineffective band aids. Worked for the savings and lone crises and was never applied to the 2008 bank crises, the people who did it all went free. Hey! Reminds me of the people who planned and financed the Jan. 6th insurrection!
