Song of the Day 4/1: Led Zeppelin, “Fool in the Rain”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on April 1, 2023

It’s April Fool’s Day, it’s raining — call me Mr. Literal, but it’s a good excuse to play one of my favorite Zep tunes.

This one supposedly originated because John Paul Jones and Robert Plant heard so much samba music when they were watching the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. Plant and John Bonham turn in some of their best late-period performances, and it became one of the few Zeppelin songs released as a single, peaking at No. 21 on the Hot 100. It’s a staple on classic rock stations.

    I love this song!! 😻

I’m in the middle of the band’s discography right now, listening to it all in my car. Always a treat.

Hands down my favorite Led Zeppelin song. Probably because it is so different from every other Led Zeppelin song.
