A surprising but welcome change of heart.

DSSA Statement on “permit to purchase” Legislation

On behalf of our membership, and after much soul searching and careful consideration the Delaware State Sportsman’s Association has decided to support the “permit to purchase” legislation currently being considered in the Delaware State Senate.  Furthermore, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies for our past support of total gun deregulation, which included pressing for the availability of military-style weapons to the general public. We have come to understand that our stance has contributed to a culture of gun violence that has had tragic consequences for far too many people in our country.

We have come to the realization that protecting the gun rights of hunters does not require advocating for the availability of military-style weapons to the general public. We believe that responsible gun ownership and use is essential to preserving the tradition of hunting and protecting our communities.

We are committed to promoting safe and responsible gun ownership and use, and to working with lawmakers and other stakeholders to find common-sense solutions that will help prevent mass shootings and other senseless acts of gun violence. We recognize that our past support for military-style weapons was misguided and we apologize for any harm that our stance may have caused.

Moving forward, we will continue to be advocates for the rights of hunters and responsible gun owners, but we will do so in a way that prioritizes the safety and well-being of our communities. We will no longer advocate for completely unfettered handgun ownership or the availability of military-style weapons to the general public and we will work to promote responsible gun ownership that is focused on hunting and personal defense, not mass destruction.

Yes, it is satire.  No, I don’t this this change of heart is impossible.  Only very improbable.

‘MAGA movement’ widely unpopular, new poll finds

President Donald Trump is still unpopular and so is the political movement created in his image, according to a new national NBC News poll.

The Make America Great Again, or ‘MAGA,’ movement, which takes its name from Trump’s first campaign slogan, was the least popular individual or group tested in the new survey. Just 24% of Americans have positive views of the movement, while 45% voice negative views.

Commuter Rail Service from Newark to Baltimore?

Efforts to expand Maryland’s commuter rail service into a regional system took a step forward with the signing of an agreement with officials in Delaware and Virginia.

The framework agreement signed earlier this month opens the door to discussion that could lead to expanded service to Newark and northern Virginia.

“We must take a regional approach to create a fully connected transportation network, and these agreements will help us deliver seamless transit service across state lines,” Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul J. Wiedefeld said in a statement. “Maryland is working to create a transit network that expands opportunities and options for all customers. Collaboration with our partners in Virginia and Delaware is critical in that mission.”

Blind squirrel finds nut – “Debates” are stupid and make everyone dumber.

Trump threatens to boycott Republican presidential debates

(Bloomberg) — Donald Trump is threatening to skip the Republican presidential debates, saying in a social media post that nobody got his approval beforehand and that he won’t appear at a forum held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

The Republican National Committee has announced that the first GOP debate for the 2024 presidential race will be held in August in Milwaukee, and the second at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. The dates for the debates haven’t been announced.

But Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform Tuesday that organizers didn’t get his or his campaign’s approval before announcing the debates, adding, “When you’re leading by seemingly insurmountable numbers, and you have hostile Networks with angry, TRUMP & MAGA hating anchors asking the ‘questions,’ why subject yourself to being libeled and abused?”

DSSA, yeah…. Right! Suspect they’ll start calling each other traitors before this become real. As for the mighty MAGA as anticipated if would boil down to cult members only in the end.
