Eugene Young to Primary Tom Carper – Rumor Watch

Filed in National by on April 26, 2023

I think this one is wishful thinking. And yet, Carper is ripe to be taken out, so why not Young?   Someone will step up and that someone will not be Lisa Blunt Rochester.    h/t  Nemski

Maybe you have someone in mind? The biggest qualification, historically speaking, is a proven track record of regarding corporations as primary constituents.

  2. Joe Connor says:

My anemic senior checkbook would spring to life!

  3. Jason330 says:

    It would never happen, but…

If LBR just said, “Fuck it – it’s time. I’m running for the Senate and if it means a primary against Carper, so be it.”

That would be the most Carper-esque of moves and it is probably LBR’s only path to the Senate. Coons lucked out, but this seat – this lifetime sinecure is going to the person with the guts to take it from Carper, just as Carper had the guts to take it from Roth.

    • mediawatch says:

The difference is that Carper took on an aging member of the opposition party. Democrats, especially those in middle age, don’t kill their parents.

      • RE Vanella says:

What about their great grandparents tho?

How long are we meant to endure this nonsense. Fucking Feinstein doesn’t even now what year it is!

  4. bamboozer says:

And so Carper Fest 5,000 did begin (Praise de Lohd!) as we all knew it would. As for “guts” would suggest it was more like Carper smelled blood when “the man with the plastic hair” fell over in public. Let me join the crowd and say I don’t want LBR either, she’s yet another corporate marionette. Suggestions would be nice, this is a start.

    • Jason330 says:

Roth fell down when the campaign was well underway. Maybe guts is the wrong word…?

      Cunning?

      • Joe Connor says:

The head hit the wall just after Labor Day, you are correct. But I think Karma leans toward a a bit of good fortune going the way of the primary challenger who has the chops and the courage to take the plunge.

  5. Arthur says:

The best part if young ran and won it would lock LBR out forever and then someone could primary her

  6. RE Vanella says:

Also, federal money isn’t “tax payer dollars,” but anonymous commenters know this I’m sure of it.

We have fiat currency. We create it to spend it. We don’t allocate tax deposits. Lol.

  7. Eugene Young remains by far one of the most singularly-impressive candidates I’ve ever met.

The Democratic rank-and-file is now so far beyond the DINO-ism of the ’80’s and ’90’s.

Were he to run, he’d win. In fact, I think Carper would gracefully withdraw.

    Paging Drew Serres!
