Song of the Day 6/2: Oasis, “Falling Down”
Joe Biden tripped and fell on stage at the Air Force Academy graduation ceremony yesterday, thereby demonstrating, according to the wingnutosphere, his absolute unfitness for the office of the presidency. This has proved particularly vexing to some in the GOP, who claim they were bamboozled in debt-ceiling negotiations by a guy they simultaneously claim can’t find his pants in the morning.
“Falling Down” is not one of Oasis’ better-known songs, but it has the distinction of being the last single the band released before Noel Gallagher quit, mid-tour, later in 2009. Noel sings lead on the tune, and he considers it one of his best. Fans of the band must be encouraged by this week’s rumors, fueled by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, that the feuding Gallagher brothers will reunite so the band can play the annual Knebworth festival in 2025.
