WELL SHIT. How did I miss that?
It’s pretty much a non-story. Pete had ALREADY said he would step down as Speaker after session, although it’s not clear when.
The speculation came from Kevin Hensley. While it’s clear that Pete confides in Rethugs more than in members of his own caucus, even Hensley said it was speculation.
Which is not to say that the names might not be correct. But Val would be Speaker ONLY if there was sufficient support in the House D Caucus to forward her name to the floor, where the entire House would vote on it.
The good news? Even IF the story is true, and even IF Val gets the position, it’s only until after the 2024 cycle, where I suspect the members of the D caucus will change significantly.
The best is all the Delaware “progressive” politicians celebrating this on social media because it’s “3 women” JFC with the identity politics Delaware dems. It’s the same thing as Pete with Val in there 🤦♂️
What is the basis for your claims? Not saying you’re wrong, just asking for evidence.
Val was and is an extremely ambitious and self-serving politician. She has fired multiple staffers, who I personally worked with and vouch for, apparently to assuage her need to be feared/respected?? She is more than a bit pretentious and self-aggrandizing. That being said there is no extreme that can be breached in describing Schwartzkopf. He defiled the Speakers position and was/is a consistent neofascist example of an entitled liar and bully. Good riddance. John Kowalko

Not saying Mimi or Kerri sold out. Just saying that the D caucus decided to replace Ferdinand with Imelda so they get not only the obsessive shoe collecting but also the “Dragon-Lady” persona. Sold themselves out.
