Yes. An artist who was deeply concerned about the human condition and didn’t care what it did to her career:
““I can’t think of an artist who’s given more than Sinéad and I can’t think of an artist who’s been punished more than Sinéad, for telling the truth.”–Anohni.
“The fire in her eyes made you understand that her activism was a soulful reflex & not a political gesture.”–Massive Attack.
And it’s the weakest song on the album. The rest of them are emotionally raw and honest; this one is the usual Prince bathos.
BTW, the “Prince estate” – sounds so much better than “leeching relatives,” doesn’t it? – wouldn’t allow the song to be used in “Nothing Compares,” the documentary about O’Connor’s life.

I don’t know. My emotionally raw and honest sensor must be crap because that seems emotionally raw and honest to me.
That’s because she’s singing it.
Look at the lyrics – typical Prince narcissism. “Since you took your love away.” Wah.
That film was pretty good, if still reliant on documentary tropes of re-creations and a hurried final chapter. Check it out, if you can: https://letterboxd.com/v9733xa/film/nothing-compares/
