‘Bulo’s Fave Tunes: July, 2023

Best month of the year?  Quite possibly.  So much stellar stuff and so much variety:

I’ve found the songs of Big Thief resistable–until now:

For lovers of the Wild Tchoupitoulas which, come to think of it, should be everybody.   BTW, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah is the former Christian Scott, trumpeter extraordinaire.  I LOVE this stuff!:

Never thought there would be a ‘Chrisopher Walken’ song reference to rival the heights of Fountains Of Wayne on ‘Hackensack’.  I was wrong.  Shooby dooby dang dang:

Two from my favorite album of the month.  This first one scratches my Joni itch, and since Joni’s on my Musical Mount Rushmore–:

A little retro power pop from one of the creators of the dB’s, who deserved better than they got.  Yes, Alex Chilton wrote it:

How did I miss this one back in April?:

A nice surprise from jazz guy Joshua Redman. No surprise at all from Chris Stamey. Glad he keeps at it. Local Natives better than ever. Had never heard of Les Imprimes, but happy I have now. Thundercat and Tame Impala are good together. Great stuff. Thanks.
