Florida ‘Right to Rock’ bill would bar venues from cancelling shows based on politics
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — A bill recently filed in the Florida legislature would bar certain entertainment venues from cancelling shows due to a performer’s political affiliation or social media activity.
Florida Rep. Joel Rudman (R-Navarre) filed the “Right to Rock Act” on Wednesday. You can read the full text of the bill below:
An entertainment venue, whether an indoor event venue or an outdoor event venue, that accepts state funding and enters into a contract with a person engaged in a live presentation or performance by a single performer or multiple performers, including musicians, comedians, dancers, and actors, whether or not such person or persons are compensated for the presentation or performance, may not cancel or terminate an executed contract with such person for any reason related to the person’s use of social media or political affiliation.

Citizens United was the starters gun for the Billionaires out to buy politicians, laws and now elections. This will not stop. They own Coons, but the evil imp has plenty of company. The shooter was reportedly twice hospitalized under the baker act and was living with his parents. They were effectively his legal guardians and bear the responsibility for his actions, since he was clearly not a functioning human being.

You had me, then you lost me. Certainly some accountability for the parents, but also accountability for the military Arms dealers selling with impunity to psychos. Also accountability for the legislatures that allow arms dealers to sell with impunity to psychos.
I don’t think it is wise to re-engineer civil society to accommodate our lowest common denominators. It’s not just the shooters-it’s the junkie nodding off on the dart bus and the guy sleeping in the bus shelter by the Tolley square acme. We had places where these people were secure, housed, and fed, but thanks to self-styled do-gooders and the Reagan admin we closed them all in favor of community-based non-treatment.
