Delaware Superior Court dismisses pastors’ religious freedom lawsuit against Gov. John Carney
Pastors, who claimed COVID-19 lockdowns violated Constitutional rights, will appeal to Delaware Supreme Court

WILMINGTON — A lawsuit filed against Gov. John Carney that claimed he denied religious freedoms to…
Earlier, as he informed Chutkan that the defense plans to file motions to dismiss for each conspiracy charge in the case as quickly as possible, Lauro argued that the prosecution’s entire case is political and told Chutkan that the defense may allege that the charges were brought in “retaliation” for Trump and his allies’ attacks on and investigations into the President’s son, Hunter Biden.

Oops…. What are the odds? While I was typing that another campus shooting took place:

No Evidence? No problem for house impeachers
Kevin McCarthy is making it increasingly clear that he intends to open an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden—but some of his Republicans are furious with him for it.
Republicans have insisted for months that Biden is guilty of corruption and influence peddling overseas, despite producing no actual evidence. McCarthy has suggested opening an impeachment inquiry into Biden next month, once Congress returns from recess, so that Republicans can access more information and witnesses, which will supposedly lead them to the truth.

They could call this “Getting Delaware’d”
Foxconn is selling off two of its large facilities in Wisconsin after years of neglected promises to bring thousands of jobs to Eau Claire and Green Bay. The Taiwanese manufacturing company has pivoted from one potential production idea to the next since it broke ground in 2017 and gave then-President Donald Trump an opportunity to take photos and claim he’s bringing jobs back to the United States.
Like the majority of mass shooters, the dollar general attacker was a certified nut that should have been under the care of nurse ratchet in a secure facility. His manifesto was a reflection of whatever ideology he latched onto that gave his unstable mind a semblance of order.
Bring back departments of mental hygiene and beef up the baker act. These diseases start young and metastasize in the teenage years, kids who can’t function in school and who can’t be controlled by their parents would do better in an institutional setting before they act violently or end up living on the street. It’s tough but the alternatives are worse. Perhaps one day we can find real permanent fixes for schizophrenia, severe autism, etc. but for now the needs and safety of society come first
Uh…schizophrenia does not “start young.” It typically manifests in the late teen-early ’20s.
Instead of demonizing the mentally ill maybe we should talk about ridding the country of its easily accessed firearms.
Schizophrenia is one of a host of psych diseases. We should all be more concerned with the prevalence of “autism spectrum” disorders and the largely unsupervised use of powerful psychotropics drugs for symptom management. This is not meant to demonize sick people, but as we saw during the pandemic quarantine and enforced social distancing could be effective to protect the wider community. A five-year concentrated effort to address and abate mental illness will do more to address gun violence, all other forms of violence, drug addiction, and homelessness than 30 years of divisive gun control efforts.
We’ve always had schizophrenics. We’ve always had white supremacists. We HAVEN’T always had AR-15’s and other killing machines readily available to anyone who wants them.
The only people making gun control efforts ‘divisive’ are those who want access to said killing machines.
Semiautomatic firearms have been around for a century and publicly-available for the majority of that time.
The only difference between an AR and an older wood-stock rifle is that it looks scarier. The mass shooting epidemic is a recent social
problem that correlates with the closure of state institutions and corresponding increase in the use of powerful psychotropics.
The Jacksonville shooter parroted racist ideology but there is no indication he actually wanted to participate in white supremacy. Like many of these mental defectives he was suicidal and wanted to go out with a bang. If he was really a white supremecist he would have become a cop
How about we improve mental health care AND reduce the accessiblity of guns?
Anybody in the US can get a military weapon. Anybody. That’s the bottom line.
You could spend billions on mental health care, and you will still have people turning them on civilians and using them in the ways the manufactures and arms dealers intend for them to be used – to shoot large numbers of people quickly and kill a large percentage of people who are shot.
You can’t get a gun if you are in a prison or an institution.
I like it! We all just have to submit to an evaluation for pre-crime.
You mean background checks/permit to purchase?
“Largely unsupervised use of psychotropic drugs”…uh, where?
You are spinning gun-nut fantasies while being careful not to admit to being a gun nut. You’re on a short leash, pard.
Psychiatrists are the only doctors that have any business prescribing any sort of psychiatric medication, however by the numbers it’s non-psychiatrists (gps and others) that are pushing this stuff out as a quick fix. This same attitude of a pill for every problem caused the opioid epidemic
I don’t know why you’re riding this hobby horse so hard, but I don’t get the impression you’re any kind of mental health professional. Why are you here? This isn’t a mental health forum.
Don’t play lawyer ball Bobby.
Right now – Anybody in the US can get a military weapon. Anybody. That’s the bottom line.
We could spend billions on mental health care, but we don’t and we won’t. Living in the gun nut’s dreamland where taxes are raised to support the mentally ill makes you sound mentally ill.
You know a good way to spot the mentally ill? They buy lots of guns because they’re paranoid.
So if we’re going to start locking up the mentally ill, I say we start with them. See how much violence that curbs, then go from there.
Re: FoxConn (is that a perfect name or what? Fox is the ultimate con, all right).
Right on cue TNJ has an update on the Delaware City fix-up.
It’s behind the paywall, but the lede’s a good summary.
