Without a doubt Ginni Thomas thinks she earned all of this money by being a pillar holding up western civilization.  All wingnuts share the same delusion.

New Filings Reveal More Luxury Trips and Payments to Ginni Thomas

The amended disclosures reveal that Thomas was paid nearly $700,000 between 2003 and 2007 by the Heritage Foundation.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas reported more trips paid for by Texas billionaire and Republican megadonor Harlan Crow in 2022, according to a newly-filed disclosure detailing the justice’s financial dealings.

The new financial disclosure reveals that Crow — who is described in the new filing as “a longtime friend of filer and his wife” —- paid for Thomas’ travel to speak at a conference in Dallas, which was hosted at a venue owned by Crow’s company in May 2022.

The other guy… Here are some quotes from Biden’s Labor Day excoriation of the Orange Menace.

“The guy who held this job before me was just one of two presidents in history … who left office with fewer jobs in America than when he got elected to office,,,By the way, you know who the other one was? Herbert Hoover. Isn’t that kind of coincidental?”

“Guess what? The great real estate builder, the last guy, he didn’t build a damn thing,  …Under my predecessor, Infrastructure Week became a punchline. On my watch, infrastructure has been a decade and it’s a headline.”

“When the last guy was here, we were shipping jobs to China. Now we’re bringing jobs home from China. When the last guy was here, your pensions were at risk. We helped save millions of pensions with your help. When the last guy was here, he looked at the world from Park Avenue. I look at it from Scranton, Pennsylvania, I look at it from Claymont, Delaware.”

“All I hear from my friends on the other side is what they say is wrong with America…they keep telling us America’s failing. They’re wrong. I’ve got news for them: America has the strongest economy in the world right now, today.”

Charter Cable told investors that traditional cable TV is fucked.  If it takes Fox News down with it, I’m good with that.

One of the biggest cable companies in the United States has a message for media companies, its major partners in a decades-old business: The traditional cable-TV model is broken, and it needs to be fixed or abandoned.

Cable TV has become too expensive for consumers and providers, Charter Communications said in an 11-page presentation to investors Friday, adding that cord-cutters and rising fees are contributing to a “vicious video cycle.”

The presentation comes amid negotiations between Charter and The Walt Disney Co., owner of popular cable channels including ESPN and FX, which will not be available to Charter’s nearly 15 million pay-TV subscribers until both sides agree on how much Charter will pay Disney to carry its channels. Subscribers to Charter’s Spectrum TV service will be without access to the U.S. Open tennis tournament and college football games during a holiday weekend.

It seems to me that traditional cable could have saved itself (or could still save itself?) by pivoting from content bundling to using their built out network assets to provide very high speed internet.

Of course i know fuck all about that industry.

  2. Wow. That KHN Craziness thread was one for the ages.

Love it, long overdue. Would like to see redistricting done by a neutral third party in all states. Having said that the forces far right redistricting will fight until the bitter end to save their beloved gerrymandering. Without it they face near eternal second place.
