Stories like this one remind me that Trump & GWB exploded so many norms that the rest of the world is just saying “Fuck it!” and doing any shit they feel like doing.

I’m tired of the pass BIG NEWS gives to the GWB presidency. By 2008 we were well on our way to not having free and fair elections and it is reasonable that only thing that saved us was the collapse of the economy and the pathetic attempts to save it by the GWB administration. The country lost a lot of ground during Bush in terms of decency. Waterboarding, outing American operatives, stupendous thievery from the treasury, and the increased hegemony of the oil and gas industry, to name a few. Bush tried to nominate his secretary to SCOTUSand ended up giving us Alito and Roberts. Alito emerged to be in a class by himself in the role of justice and a right-wing political operative all rolled into one. (He is said to have to a Nazi club at Princeton, and was a son of a bitch as a 3rd Circuit Court Judge.) Now, like Red Dragon, he has emerged and is parading his true self about.
