Republicans are in disarray amid another poo-flinging fight between Team Dumb and Team Dumber. A government shutdown looks all but inevitable. I’m sure it will go as well as it usually does for the party whose mascot is Dumbo. On the other hand, people keep voting for them, proving that the real dumbos number about 74 million.
Clueless, or just lying as usual? Rupert Murdoch stepped down from running Fux News, and railed against “the elite” on his way out. Hey, if I looked like a human/sharpei hybrid I wouldn’t look in the mirror either.
Presidential hopeful Tim Scott – “hopeful” is carrying a lot of weight there – says it’s “not necessarily a bad thing” that Sen. Red Ruffansore Tommy Tuberville is holding up military promotions, because the military has become too woke. Don’t see the South Carolina senator pushing for getting all those military bases moved out of his state, though.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, vying to replace Trump as America’s scummiest almost-human, engaged in some climate change denial while touting his plan for pumping more oil. This is why I cheer every time another storm hits Florida, and find solace in the fact that global warming will shrink his domain from now until the end of the human race.
That end will come a lot sooner than people seem to realize. The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences has issued a report on the anthropocene extinction that makes it pretty clear we will keep fouling our own nest until it collapses.
Science isn’t all doom and gloom, though, as demonstrated by this year’s slate of IgNobel Prize winners.

I’m a big fan of hurricanes hitting Florida, would prefer one plow thru “The Villages” and scatter Conserva Geezers to the wind, but any is good at this point. As for the survival of the planet and the human race I don’t plan to be here for the final solution to mankind, I’m too damn old and suspect I’ll get my wish. Not complaining.

Good to see DOJ has overcome its aversion to indicting elected officials. Now indict some elected insurrectionists.
I think they should indict Clarence Thomas. Pro Publica broke yet another big story about his corruption this morning.
It’s time to determine whether Supreme Court justices are above the law.
