House Rethug Shit-Show Takes Another Dump In The Lumpen Form Of Patrick McHenry

The R’s apparently excreted the McHenry boomlet while secreted in the House bowels.  The inside poop:

House Republicans are abandoning a push to empower a temporary speaker, Rep. Patrick McHenry, after it faced fierce pushback within the party on Thursday.

As they left a nearly four-hour internal meeting about the idea, multiple Republicans said there was no virtually no path forward. The proposal, which may still come back for a vote at some point, would have allowed McHenry and the GOP to reopen the House after 16 days without a speaker.

“It certainly does not have the support in conference and to bring it to the floor. It would have to survive with Democratic votes,” Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) said. “We’re currently sitting on a tinderbox. So to do that, it would set off the fuse that would certainly end in civil war within the GOP, and I don’t believe that anybody wants to do that.”

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) summed it up succinctly: “The resolution is dead.”

The enemies of the people deserve an enema by the people.

  1. Looks like House Rethugs are moving to Plan F–for Failure. From the NYTimes:

“In a day of whiplash and uncertainty on Capitol Hill, Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio said Thursday he would push for another vote to become speaker, even in the face of a growing bloc of Republican opposition.

His decision came after a furious backlash from rank-and-file Republicans including many of his far-right supporters, who said empowering Mr. McHenry — a stand-in appointed to his post after the ouster of then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy — would effectively cede control of the House floor to Democrats and set a bad precedent.”

    Ho-kay.

The Republicans have succeeded where the J6ers failed.

Dysfunction and chaos is what Republicans want – at every level. Look at the parade of idiots they line up to support here in Delaware. Great public servants like Christine O’Donnell, who was such a fine leader that she’s moved on to, uh, what. Or that great humanitarian Lauren Witzke. She’s always willing to lend a hand or a word of encouragement to people facing challenges.

This is who they are and what they want – a boiling pot of greed, narcissism and rage, as personified by their champion, Donald Trump.

These circumstances are not some accident. This is exactly what they want.

Takes skill to counter it conversationally, where the other side gets a say. Lots of messages like “defund the police” that are said to undermine progressive aspirations. Many forms of rhetoric simply don’t work in the current situation.
