‘Bulo’s Fave Tunes: October 2023

There were more than 14 great tunes that I heard this month.  However, I make the rules, and I must abide by the rules.  So the great tunes that won’t officially be released until 2024 will make the lists–in 2024.  Plenty of compensation, though:

I’m a sucker for harmonies, and this band’s got ’em:

I take a backseat to no one when it comes to being a fan of Dave Alvin.  One of the great roots artists of all-time.  And, I liked his excursion into head music with the first The Third Mind album.  This second one, though, is Album Of The Year material.  Here, The Third Mind take a trip through one of the most mysterious one-hit wonder singles ever.  And no one could do it more justice than this band, and Jesse Sykes of The Sweet Hereafter semi-fame.  No micro-dose here, swallow the whole sugar cube:

  2. Just listened to, wait for it, Question Mark & The Mysterians do ‘Sally Go Round The Roses’. From something like 2004.

    Worst ‘music’ I’ve heard all year. And not in the ‘so bad it’s good’ category. An utter disgrace.
