Song of the Day 11/20: The Afghan Whigs, “I Know Your Little Secret”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on November 20, 2023

Bethany Hall Long’s secrets don’t seem all that secret at this point. She might as well face the music.

The Afghan Whigs, the vehicle for frontman and songwriter Greg Dulli, formed in Cincinnati around the time the grunge movement was getting started in Seattle, and in 1989 they were signed by Sub-Pop, the label that boasted most of the bands that would soon be famous. They reached their peak in 1993 with “Gentlemen” and, after breaking up in 2001, reunited in 2012.

The band has a tenuous Delaware connection. Bassist John Curley is the son and namesake of former News Journal publisher John Curley, who moved on to become CEO of Gannett before retiring in 2001.

I think one of the many things Trump has changed about American politics is that malefactors don’t need to face the music.

Just brazen it out and let the ill-informed dummies known collectively as voters make a choice.
