Song of the Day 1/22: The 1910 Fruitgum Company, “1, 2, 3 Red Light”
TACO Trump outdid himself in Davos, making his usual ugly noises about taking over Greenland and threatening Europe with punitive tariffs for not agreeing to it – and then backpedaling one day later when the stock markets plunged. It’s a perfect illustration of why countries don’t want to do business with the U.S. – who knows what will flit through what’s left of his brain on any given day? And unlike his first term, there’s nobody in his orbit who’ll flash the stop sign at him.
The 1910 Fruitgum Company was a bubblegum pop group that had a handful of hits in the late ’60s, most with themes that played on old-fashioned children’s games. Their most successful was the first, “Simon Says,” which reached No. 4, but “1, 2, 3 Red Light” did almost as well, topping out at No. 5, as did “Indian Giver.” They broke up in 1970 as tastes changed, but later reformed to play the oldies circuit.

That Davos speech by the Canadian PM was really well done. Thought you would have gone with Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” after that.
Good suggestion. Might use it tomorrow.
