General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Thursday, June 18, 2026

The Big News:  Senate To Consider FY ’27 Budget.  Here it is, read and comment.  I have one comment–check out the ‘best and brightest’ that Speaker Mimi assigned the task of writing the budget:

K. Williams, Bolden, Chukwuocha, Griffith, Postles, D. Short.

It’s difficult to imagine four worse D choices for that committee.  Just the way the Speaker wants it.

Here is yesterday’s Session Activity Report.  Nothing much of note there.

Today’s House Agenda is yet another House Bill-A-Palooza.  It sorta makes sense–41 reps vs. 21 senators results in more bills introduced in the House than in the Senate.  OK, you asked, I answer–for the legislative session as of right now:  476 House bills, 347 Senate bills.

Other than the Budget bills, most of the Senate Agenda is comprised of House bills.  Few of which catch my interest.  YMMV.

The General Assembly will reconvene next week for the Tuesday through Thursday normal schedule, and will then return for the final day on June 30.  By my count (square root of 17=pi?), that’s four more session days after today.

Motion to adjourn.  Accepted.

Bolden is 80 years old and really hasn’t done anything of stature in her legislation life. Nothing for the marginalized (homeless & prisoners). She went home before the Inspector General bill was voted on. She really needs to be replaced by someone that will work hard for her community.
