Any information on the Bond Bill and discussions around it? All spotlight says is they tabled it immediately, everyone went and made backroom deals, yada yada yada about the Marijuana zoning and oh yeah the Bond Bill passed.
Like I said, I wasn’t about to stay up until 6 am. Here’s the thing about the money bills that makes it difficult to fight them: There are so many Christmas stocking items for pretty much every legislator in them that they all have a stake in passing them.
Definitely disappointing journalism coverage. There could be several very interesting stories about the events of yesterday in Dover especially about all the things happening beyond the scenes. Yet not even Spotlight had much in depth coverage beyond reciting basic facts, as you point out. Do journalists these days not cultivate sources to get the deeper scoops on what exactly is going on beyond the scenes?
When the General Assembly doesn’t adjourn until 6 am, there’s not much time for journalists to do a deep dive.

On the House floor, in the wee hours, on NUMEROUS occasions, multiple Republicans asked why so many bills that could have been done earlier in the month were on last night’s agenda, and they were right. It was totally absurd. SO many bills need not have waited until the last night.
Re: Bond Bill, Republican Rep. Mike Smith specifically called out the Governor’s Edgemoor port deal – signed and cast in stone – pledging another $110 MILLION a month BEFORE the legislature had even discussed it. Money which could have been better spent in their legislative districts. He called for Secretary of State Patibanda to answer but of course by then she was home in bed. [This was also Deb Heffernan shafting her own community on her way out the door. Supposed jobs over her community. Backroom promises to Meyer. And now the First State Whatever PAC supporting Mulvihill over Rae Krantz to try to ensure the Delaware Way continues]
Wilmington is powderkeg and that bodycam video is the match. If it was exculpatory for the officer involved, it would have been released already. They are purposely suppressing it until after the long weekend and the weather cools off.
