Attorney General:
AG Kathy Jennings, running for re-election
“Attorney General Jennings has been a fearless defender of justice, equality and the rule of law. Her unwavering commitment to protecting our rights and standing up for Delawareans is exactly what we need right now,” said Governor Meyer. “I am proud to endorse Kathy for re-election and look forward to continuing our work together to build a stronger, fairer future for all.”
State Senate:
Adriana Bohm, running in SD 1
“Adriana has spent her career doing the hard, unglamorous work that actually changes people’s lives. Dave Redlawsk, running in RD 23

Dave’s background as a UD professor and years of on-the-ground activism in Newark have given him the perspective to faithfully represent the constituents of the 23rd district and the experience to hit the ground running in Dover.”
New Castle County Council:
Kyle Grantham, Running for New Castle County Council, District 3
“Kyle delivered extraordinary results for New Castle County during my eight years as County Executive because he never lost sight of who he was serving. He’s deeply committed to building stronger communities, expanding opportunity, and making government work for everyone. As the next County Councilman for the Third District, Kyle will bring integrity, transparency, and a tireless dedication to public service to the Council. I’m proud to support him and look forward to working together again to improve the lives of Delawareans.”
Yes, I outright disagree with some of these endorsements. But for Adriana, Shay, and Rae, this is a big boost. All you have to do (OK, I did it) is to go through the campaign finance reports for Matt from 2024. Pages of contributors from SD 5 alone.
It’s a testament to Shay’s capability as a candidate, her passionate commitment to the broader left movement, and the skilled work of her campaign that she secured an endorsement from the incumbent governor (while also being endorsed by Bernie Sanders, DSA, and WFP!).
The primary is September 15th, she takes absolutely no corporate (or other business) money, and certainly doesn’t take money from powerful Republicans like her opponent does. I think everyone reading this should donate $10 if they want to see an experienced working class fighter deliver lasting change:

Did Meyer endorse them because he shares their politics, or merely because he sees them as allies in fighting the old-guard Democrats? My guess, based on his past conduct and disagreements with the party establishment, would be the latter.
If I had to guess, it’s different reasons in different cases.
Yes, I was only talking about the three you singled out. I disagree with several of them, including that mush-mouthed paragraph of nothing he endorsed Kyle Grantham with. Grantham should serve chicken with his waffles on data centers.
Grantham has managed the feat of being endorsed by EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF COUNCIL WHO SUPPORTS DATA CENTERS.
These are questions for the Governor, but regardless, Shay earned this endorsement through an incredible work ethic and a focus squarely on material results for people. Which is all the more reason to donate.
It’s politics. It makes absolutely no difference why! Because it’s done. And anyone can speculate on intent. It’s irrelevant because people will believe whatever reasons that help their narrative.

I seem to recall having this conversation six months ago where I said if you had questions for me you didn’t have to speculate, you could just ask me… Here we are again…
I had offers to go to the state, two different positions, but I chose to stay at the County.
My wife had just had my son and had returned to work part-time. The pay scales at the state are significantly lower than the County and it would have been a 30ish percent pay cut to go with Matt.
Marcus asked me if I’d like to stay, especially having been the only person with nearly eight years in the executive office, and I agreed because it made the most sense for my family. Hope that answers your question.
Take note dear candidates, there is transparency and there is arrogance. Pride yourself on answering every call of your name and you’ll end up saying something extra about who you are.

I think this is a weird move by Matt especially given his mix of folks. Wonder if we start seeing his PAC friends set up shop in their disclosures. For most, and endorsement isn’t a deal. But this feels like there is an air of creating a cadre of beholden legislators. And uh, Kyle.
More excited by WFP’s third and final round of endorsements that came out today.
Meyer won the office only because the alternatives – a carpetbagger and a MAGAt in disguise – had stronger negatives. He not only lacks coattails, he lacks the entire coat, so I seriously doubt his endorsement will change a single vote.
Personally knowing some of the new-ish folks that he endorsed today, I can tell you they aren’t easily bought. At all. And they’ll scrap it up with the governor if elected regardless of his endorsement.
This is his attempt at “strategery” – he’s got enough sense to realize those three progressive candidates are popular and likely to succeed. Ideologically, they are miles apart, but I think he sees an opportunity to call in a future favor (or at least bask in their future reflected glory) if he falls in behind them.
Too little too late, and too many bad endorsements on that list. Matt stands to be the first one-term guv in over 50 years; last one-and-done was Tribbit.
It will be interesting to see if anyone he endorsed tells him they reject it, as Mary Peltola told Kamala Harris in Alaska.
I keep hearing chatter that Meyer will lose re-election. I’d love a strong Dem alternative. Who on the Democrstic side will be able to raise enough money to compete with him?

In fact, Sen. Sokola’s remarks ring really hollow when we look at how the Senate Democrats conspired with then ‘Acting-Gov. BHL’ (Carney had moved onto his Wilmington gig) to pack the Wilmington Port Board.
Imagine if you’re the incoming Governor and something as sleazy as that is being plotted before you can even take office. Especially since Meyer cleaned BHL’s clock–47% to Long’s 37%, and O’Mara’s 16%.
That was a dirty attempted insider deal that no doubt told Meyer all he needed to know about the leaders of that Caucus.
As to the Special Elections, there was legislation introduced that I believe was endorsed by the Democratic State chair to change the special elections process. Why? Because, if smoking had been allowed, the choices would have been made in smoke-filled rooms. An insiders’ process if ever there was one. Even Alonna Berry, who was a beneficiary of the existing process, signed on as a sponsor. Leadership in the House and Senate simply had no desire to make the process more democratic.
I’ve long been a fan of Dave Sokola. That he has chosen to exit the stage on such a belligerent note is unfortunate.
The line about “trying to overturn an election” that was decided by less than 100 people in the district. Also didn’t recognize most of them from RD meetings at all or at the party leadership votes, so they were names signed up and every person had a proxy on Freel’s list who couldn’t make it. The public should get to choose their senators & reps, not party connects.
That is TBD. What is known, is that Matt’s management style is not winning him any friends in Dover. He doesn’t seem to have a clear idea of his own goals; everything reads as a reactionary response. The first 18 months or so have been characterized by lurching from one shiny new initiative to another -the Port, the medical school, an AI sandbox, Surgeon General, etc. From the outside looking in, he is adrift and still looking for a signature “win” to justify his re-election in ’28.
Ironically, after going down many PAC rabbit holes. The PAC’s which supported Matt are spending thousands in support of Rae Krant’s opponent. So many PAC’s funneling money to and from each other to make it harder to track and there is some still untraceable to me, but I’m sure more advanced researchers could follow the full trail to the federally funded PACs making their way to DE.

Last year’s fight over the “DExit” legislation, making Delaware’s laws more friendly to tech giants like Meta and Dropbox, has corporate law firms funding an advertising campaign this election cycle to defend Delaware legislators, like Seigfried, against progressive challengers.
Frisby said that while she’s grateful for Meyer’s trust and support, she doesn’t agree with all of his positions, including the nicknamed “billionaires bill.”
She said progressives are ready to put people over special interests.

Yup, Ray went to the wall for Elon Musk, and the Governor forsook him.
