A federal immigration agent entered the campus at Stanton Middle School on Tuesday morning, then left after school security approached, according to school officials. An agent or agents then arrested a person just off the school grounds.
The incident appears to be the first time an agent with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement entered a Delaware school campus — a “sensitive place” where state officials have sought to restrict their actions.
A video circulating on social media shows agents placing a man into a vehicle near the school, as school buses and other vehicles drove past.
A spokesperson for the Red Clay Consolidated School District said the apparent enforcement activity took place off of school grounds after the school’s administration and security personnel approached the agent on campus.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, did not comment on the incident when reached by Spotlight Delaware. Instead, it requested the name of the detainee in question, the location the incident took place, and photos and videos from the arrest.
Oh, DHS doesn’t have the name of the detainee in question? How do we know that the ‘detainee’ isn’t on a plane to the Congo already?
This is unconscionable. Perhaps someone can drag Chris Coons away from a fundraiser to intervene on behalf of this detainee. Same holds true for our entire Congressional delegation. Do something.
Absolute Corruption All The Time:
Julio Herrera Velutini really wanted a pardon.
A billionaire banker from a prominent Venezuelan family, Mr. Herrera faced felony bribery charges in the United States and struck an unusually lenient plea deal in August 2025 for a misdemeanor campaign finance violation. But he felt that reduced charge was still a stain on his record.
So Mr. Herrera deployed his lawyer, Christopher M. Kise, the former Florida solicitor general who was on Mr. Trump’s personal legal team, to help with a plea for clemency. His 27-year-old daughter, Isabela Herrera, who is an American citizen, donated $3.5 million to a super PAC tied to Mr. Trump. But as of last fall, the pardon remained elusive.
Then the Herrera family hired Alina Habba, who had been one of Mr. Trump’s personal lawyers and at the time was an adviser at the Justice Department. They offered her $10 million a year for four years along with a range of bonuses. In total, including bonuses, she was guaranteed more than $50 million over four years, according to interviews and documents obtained by The New York Times.
Under the agreement, Ms. Habba would become general counsel at Concord Partners, a company that Ms. Herrera set up in late October 2025 in Florida. The company has no public profile and its business remains unclear even to some people associated with the Herrera business empire. Ms. Habba finalized her deal days after the company was registered, while she was still serving as U.S. attorney in New Jersey.
She formally began her work for Concord Partners on Jan. 1. Weeks later, Mr. Trump granted Mr. Herrera a full and unconditional pardon.
By then, Ms. Habba was a senior adviser to Attorney General Pam Bondi, overseeing U.S. attorneys. She had an office at the Justice Department and a protective detail from the U.S. Marshals, a holdover from her time serving as the U.S. attorney in New Jersey.
So, the $50 mill gig was a side-hustle’? Only in Trump World. The article aptly describes the ‘pardon industry’ that has pervaded Trump’s second term.
Trump Has Lost It, ctd. The story the mainstram press doesn’t cover. More stuff:
Minnesota Now Has Fewer Lakes Due To ‘Somalians’:
Donald Trump seems to be under the impression that Minnesota’s Somali population has affected the state’s lake count.
Speaking with reporters at the White House Tuesday, the president lamented that Minnesota had hundreds of lakes—until the Somalis arrived.
“They’ve ruined a great state,” Trump said, referring to the Land of 10,000 Lakes. “You know I remember Minnesota in the old days, what a beautiful, beautiful, with lakes all over the place, they had more lakes than any place I’ve ever seen. It was so beautiful.
“They’re destroying it, probably, maybe they’ve destroyed it,” Trump continued, referring to the Somali immigrant community. “And I only hope a Republican woman who happens to be very respected by everybody gets in because you will see a difference.”
But the nonsensical conjecture emerged in the midst of a lengthy rant against Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, during which the president warned that the congresswoman could be deported or “go to jail” if evidence emerges that her father inaccurately reported her age on a citizenship application nearly three decades ago. Trump slammed Omar as a “sick” and “very dishonest person who hates our country.”
“She comes from a country that is essentially not even a country,” Trump said, referring to Somalia. “It’s a real shithouse.… Then she comes over here and she wants to tell us how to run America.
“She’s a disgrace to our country, and it’s amazing she can get elected, but Somalians vote for her,” Trump continued, using the wrong term for Somalis.
Why was President Donald Trump waving at empty space?
A video of the president departing for Kansas Monday afternoon showed him wandering off across the White House’s newly renovated helicopter pad, waving, saluting, and bowing as if he were interacting with a crowd of onlookers. When the camera panned out, however, it was clear that there was no one in the vicinity.
Brian Krassenstein, a political podcaster and social media influencer critical of Trump, responded to the strange moment. “I now have absolutely no doubt that Donald Trump has major mental decline,” he wrote on X. “Just think for one minute if Joe Biden had waved into the abyss like Trump just did here. Imagine what Fox News would be saying.”
Forget about Fox News. How about everybody else? Only the Guardian and the New Republic are telling the story of Trump’s obvious decline. The rest?: journalistic malpractice.
Vivek Hands Ohio To the D’s. With a piece-of-shit ad that has already backfired big-time:
Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy (R) confirmed to reporters Tuesday evening that his campaign was behind a new attack ad featuring his Democratic opponent Amy Acton’s mother calling her a “liar” and insinuating she suffers from mental health issues.
Ramaswamy acknowledged that his campaign produced the ad, which began circulating on social media Monday night and drew backlash from Democrats and some Republicans over its deeply personal attacks from her estranged mother.
In a statement to The Associated Press, a spokesperson for Ramaswamy’s campaign said Acton’s mother was not paid for the one-minute spot. The spokesperson also said the ad will air both online and on TV as Election Day draws near.
Axios reported Tuesday that his campaign is spending $4 million to air the spot statewide, doubling down on the controversial ad in hopes that it will sway voters.
Acton accused Ramaswamy of having a “lifelong pattern” of lobbing personal attacks at political opponents, while her brother, Philip Stearns, called it “despicable.”
Acton has disclosed that she has experienced sexual abuse and neglect during her childhood and has accused her stepfather of molesting her. He was charged with sexually abusing Acton when she was 12 years old, according to court documents.
The ad features Acton’s biological mother, Donna Arthur, who has been estranged from her daughter following the allegations of sexual abuse, accused her daughter of lying about her childhood.
“I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent — it is not easy for a mother to say this, but Amy has a serious problem. She is a liar,” Author says in the ad.
Acton’s brother condemned the ad, saying he and his sister were removed from their mother’s custody after their stepfather’s arrest.
“It’s not surprising that Vivek Ramaswamy has stooped to such a despicable low as to attempt to turn the sexual abuse Amy endured at twelve years old from our birth mother’s husband into a political talking point,” he said in a statement to CBS News.
“Our birth mother stayed married to Amy’s rapist until he died,” he continued, adding that it was a “desperate” dig from Ramaswamy in a tight gubernatorial race.
Quite the backlash has ensued. He’s going down, and he’ll take a few other Rethugs down with him.
Did This Guy Hand Michigan’s Senate Seat To El-Sayed?:
The man who attempted to ambush the Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed with a question about his supposed allegiance to the Muslim Brotherhood – which El-Sayed parlayed into a viral clip for his campaign – is the son of a political operator who recently received $250,000 for “canvassing and influencer marketing” against El-Sayed, the Guardian has learned.
In the now-famous exchange, a man – first identified by the Handbasket as Thomas “Tommy” Teepell – asked El-Sayed if he would “disavow” the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed said he would, but then asked: “What are you implying? Do you assume that I wouldn’t?” What followed was a five-minute exchange that has drawn over 50m views across several social media platforms, in which El-Sayed queries the man about the guarantees of religious freedom in the constitution.
Teepell is the son of Timothy “Timmy” Teepell, a longtime strategist for the Missouri Republican senator Josh Hawley as well as former Republican Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal. Timmy Teepell’s firm, Breakthrough LLC, was paid $250,000 on 29 September by America Next, a 501(c)(4) non-profit with which it shares a Baton Rouge office suite, according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
The filing says the money would fund the canvassing and influencer marketing in opposition to El-Sayed. It is the only independent expenditure the group has reported since 2015, when it paid OnMessage Inc for television advertising backing Bobby Jindal’s presidential campaign.
America Next has been trying to gin up “organic” town hall opposition to El-Sayed, as the Handbasket report noted. On 1 October, a member of the University of Michigan College Republicans, saying he was acting for America Next, reportedly offered students $200 to boo and question El-Sayed at a town hall in Flint.
What’s that I smell? Flop-sweat?
What do you want to talk about?
