Ah, but you’ll have to top this sign that was posted at Forwood Elementary:
“DEMOCRATS BANNED PLASTIC BAGS…and children can’t read or write.”
Then, superimposed over a plastic bag over a red background: “Remember That Next Time You Vote!”
So. I take that to mean that, if only ‘Democrats’ hadn’t banned plastic bags, our kids could read and write better. Except, of course, for those kids who suffocated to death in those plastic bags. I have no idea what point they were trying to make. They got nothing.
At Arden the Delaware Republican Party has a sign that says, “See Something, Say Something”. All the sign needed was a tagline reading “Democrats, Stealing Elections Since At Least 1960”. They got nothing.
BTW, there were no R signs for Arminio, Larry Lambert’s opponent, and whoever the Rethugs are running for AG and Auditor. Only signs for Katz, Ramone, and Brent Burdge (Shay Frisby’s opponent).
I’ll be part of a panel on WDEL’s Election Night Coverage from 7 pm to 10 pm. Peter MacArthur will moderate. I will post, and Al (not A I) will be updating, open threads featuring both the state and national races. We really need you to add both information and your comments. Once I get home, I’ll jump in. It is my sincere hope that we’ll be popping some bubbly tonight if results go the way I, for once, hope and expect, they’ll go. So, you can then follow me as I get giddier and less lucid.
What are you seeing out there?
Talley Middle School had a steady stream at 9am.
Steady stream at Maple Lane Elementary in Claymont at 10:30am. Two folks in full bear costumes (?!) and a couple of Labor guys working the polling site for Lambert and Cruce.
I was in France for three months until last night, so I missed weeks of location-based internet ads. This morning I’m getting a Mike Smith ad that mirrors one I saw in my stack of back mail: He provides “independent” leadership. No word that he’s Republican, of course, but “Independent” is an actual, if entirely ineffectual, political party in Delaware, and Mike Smith ain’t a member.
I came back to help ensure that after today he’ll have to eke out a living on his new $300K salary.
I think he wins, but never gets sworn in for his upcoming term.
My theory is that, because of when he got the job, there wasn’t time for him to be replaced on the ballot. So, he stuck it out. But I see no way that the Chamber President can also serve in the General Assembly.
I was never a fan of former Rep. Wayne Smith (hey, I ran against him), but when he got the job as President of the Delaware Healthcare Association (the hospitals), he resigned, and there was a Special Election. I think that’s what’s gonna happen here.
