Dover’s Police Chief Selection Committee Meeting on Wednesday

Filed in Delaware by on January 26, 2017

The City of Dover will hold it’s Police Chief Selection Committee Meeting on Wednesday, February 1st, at 3 PM. It is open to the public. Discussions will revolve around the schedule and cost of the filling the position as well as a description of the police chief.

There has been some controversy regarding the hiring of a police chief. One of the main sticking points is that Dover has never had an African-American as a police chief. Deputy Chief Major Marvin Mailey is considered a candidate for the position. Mailey is an African-American but does not have a four-year college degree which was erroneously added to the job requirement that was “accidentally” released on Monster.com.
