Alby came up with an idea that inspired me: Songs that should be posted at 12:01 am b/c they sound right at home in the wee wee hours. Couldn’t wait, so I’m starting a week of such tunes a day early:

  1. OK, that was a fail. Scheduled it to be published at 12:01 am. Defaulted to 12:01 pm. Hope you get the idea, though…

According to the orange menace, the “wee wee” hours could be any time of the day, but you’d have to be in the same room with Russian prostitutes.

I used to work a lot of night shifts. A wee hours song is more about the vibe and doesn’t necessarily mention the time in the lyrics.

For example, I’m not a big Springsteen fan but his 1973 demo of “Fever” is totally different from other versions you may have heard, and is one of my all-time favorite songs. This take got a lot of airplay on Philly radio in my teen years:

@puck: This was a key song in the live show back when he played the Main Point. This is still the best version, even with Mad Dog on the drums. Thanks.
