Comment Rescue: Was Trump Ever Sick?

Filed in National by on October 10, 2020

Over at BlueDelaware commenter, Ben, brought up something I’ve been thinking:

. It seems to me at this point, occams razor says that he was never actually sick. All “reports” of him being gravely ill were unofficial anyway. Maybe he really DID test positive. maybe he didnt and there is an outbreak at the WH anyway. it has certainly all made for compelling head-line grabbing TV. Also not too shabby of an infomercial for whatever drugs his people have stocks in.

also, let’s not pretend his behavior is any different from what it always is. completely batshit erratic. all this backbending to look away from the obvious… he’s a power-hungry psychopath who’s one skill (and holly shit does he have ranks in that one) is showmanship and World Wrestling style storyline writing. just do the most wild and crazy thing, good or bad, and run with it.
it has certainly pushed the forced hysterectomies out of the papers.

f he ever was sick, he wouldnt have gotten better this fast. He is a asymptomatic super spreader playing up the sympathy card and pretending he beat a worse illness than he did. if that isnt 100% trump, idk what is.

…with each passing day, it becomes clearer and clearer that it was never really that bad of a case and it was just another distraction from real issues. His alleged emergency trip to the hospital for oxygen was a week ago. We’re kinda past the point where the roids would have worn off. So either he really does have magic genes (nah).. or.

Someone who constantly lies about himself lied about himself and forced the only ppl who know the truth (doctors) to sign NDAs.

Whenever we think we know the limits of Trump’s mendacity and deviousness, we learn about new uncharted realms of turpitude. Clinton’s camogin was hobbled by a lack of vision in this respect.

Now Trump’s back is 100% against a wall. It isn’t not conspiracy thinking to consider every possible law or norm that Trump will be eager to break.

My own mother is a Trump Is Not Sick Truther. My question though is, what benefit did it get him? No benefit. In fact, polling shows that it was the crater event that has crashed the Trump campaign. So what was the point? Hey, maybe Trump is just trying to lose and this was the best way he thought to do it, other than actually dying.

  3. I heard him wheezing and talking phlegm-atically on those talk shows

He was, and likely remains, ill.

  4. Alby says:

What bullshit. Now you’ve taken leave of your senses just like Ben.

    Occam’s razor works like this:

If Trump is faking it, it means that all those people who’ve been leaking information about his condition are also faking it. It means Trump has been faking his symptoms — pretending to be hoarse in his Hannity interview, pretending to be even crazier than usual (and he has been, contra your claim that he’s been just like always), cancelling a live rally (yeah, that’s just like him). It means all the doctors are lying about what drugs they’ve given him.

You really think that’s more likely than the story we have? That he wanted to cover it up — which, btw, is exactly like him — and that he’s going against doctors’ order — again, exactly like him — in discharging himself from the hospital.

And all, as DD points out, to negative, not positive, effect.

Dreaming up conspiracy theories is a sign of mental illness. Don’t be like Trump. Get a grip on reality.

  5. Alby says:

Here’s the real rub: So what? So what if he’s lying? What do you, specifically, gain by believing this? That you were right all along?

That’s a game assholes play. Include me out.

  6. bamboozer says:

Nope, stunt for sympathy, nothing more.

  7. Andrew C says:

Played for sympathy? This conspiracy makes no fucking sense. It’s cratered his polling and led to exactly zero people who have ever uttered “well gee, I’ma vote for Trump now because I feel badly for the poor guy.”

Please stop spreading this nonsense. He was, and quite obviously remains, infected and ill. He couldn’t hide it on Hannity, he couldn’t hide it after walking up the stairs, he couldn’t hide it with his orange makeup.

Remember, Herman Cain got COVID in Oklahoma, tweeted dozens of times about how well he was doing, had a surrogate — https://twitter.com/THEHermanCain/status/1287819710025916417 — claim “He really is getting better, which means [the treatment] is working” on July 27th… and he died three days after.

“He was, and quite obviously remains, infected and ill.”

      I don’t see it.

“Trump spoke for 18 minutes, far less than at his normal hour-plus rallies. He appeared healthy, if perhaps a little hoarse, as he delivered what was, for all intents and purposes, a short version of his campaign speech despite the executive mansion setting.”

  8. Ben says:

Of course it makes no sense. He’s insane. DD, Alby, don’t think about this in terms of what a rational person would do.
Think about it in terms of what a desperate Adderall addict who may or may not have dementia would do. He thinks in terms of World Wrestling level storylines. Always has. He’s obsessed with the worship of the Kim dynasty and truly thinks he is held in the same regard (he is by many)
Let me be very clear. I don’t not think there was a plan or sprawling concocted conspiracy. I think he decided to do this on the fly and see how it went.

    • Ben says:

He also made the classic mistake of faking sick to get out of school on Friday and screwing up his weekend… as evident by his sudden a miraculous turn around and loss of interest.
He should have directed his staff to lie about his positive test (as I said, I do believe he tested positive…. just faked the severity)

and since you seem to be projecting that you care about my mental health, this topic takes up very little place in my brain. I’m harping on it bc people *wink respond to it so strongly. A lively debate.

  9. Alby says:

Sorry, I’m out. Your little circle jerk will have to proceed without me.
