What We Learned From Last Night’s Hearing–For Those Who Didn’t Watch.  Bottom Line (except for his indictment):

In any case, the series of Trump advisers and allies expressing disgust at his actions should convince all but the most delusional cultists that Trump should never be trusted with power again. As Pottinger said, Trump gave America’s enemies ammunition to claim our nation was in “decline” and that democracy doesn’t work.

In an eloquent summation, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) reminded the country that “we cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.” Her message was clear: Trump’s return to power would be unimaginable.

Josh (Hee-)Hawley:  From Riling Up The Mob To Running For The Exits. Twitter Gold.    Which do you prefer:  Chariots of Fire, or Benny Hill? Perhaps Stayin’ Alive?  Missourians must be proud.

Supreme Court To Immigrants: ‘You’re SOL’.  Immigrants will just have to wait until–the Supreme Court permanently dashes their hopes:

The court’s 5-4 order is a loss for the Biden administration, which is trying to return to Obama-era policies that limit immigration arrests in order to focus on security risks instead of the more aggressive approach taken under the Trump administration.

Delaware Senate Rethugs Back McGuiness.  I was waiting to see what they would do.  ‘Due process’, blahblahblah.  Hello?  It’s not just about criminality, it’s about dereliction of duty, it’s about misuse and abuse of power.  Next time they whine about having no say in Dover, remind them of the stand they just took:

The Republican Caucus on Thursday released a statement saying they maintain McGuiness is entitled to due process, and her case has just entered the appeals process. They believe lawmakers should hold off on the removal process until the case has been fully adjudicated – saying the continued push for removal prior to the conclusion of a criminal trial is troubling and strikes at the bedrock principal of the presumption of innocence.

What do you want to talk about?

“They [Republican caucus] believe lawmakers should hold off on the removal process until the case has been fully adjudicated…”

Republicans are munching popcorn while Democrats claw each other in court and fight over removal of McG. Why would they want to cut short that spectacle?

    • The only Democrat(s) who are clawing are McGuiness and Speaker Pete.

Pretty much everybody else wants her removed.

Hmmm, you think Ernie Lopez goes ‘not voting’?

It’s Kathy vs. Kathy. An appeal will be based on an attack on Jennings’s alleged overreach and improper prosecution. Rightly or wrongly, that will be the public narrative, and Republicans will try to prolong and amplify it in the hopes it damages Jennings and Democrats in general

I’m sure they will, but it’s a bad look to anyone who’s not already a fascist cultist.

The Republicans are backing her for a simpler reason: She’s a Republican, just like a lot of “Democrats” who realize they can’t get elected as a Republican in any district where the average voter has graduated from college.

    Kowalko nails it.

Delawarelive.com brings Pete’s killing of the inspector general bill back to his constant covering up for and protecting the convicted state auditor.

    • I call total bullshit on this statement from Schwartzkopf:

““However, Rep. Kowalko and I have two different ways of getting things done,” Schwartzkopf said. “He tends to make things personal when people have disagreements or different ideas, rather than finding compromise or other solutions.”

And Pete exiles anyone who dares to question his leadership to legislative purgatory. It’s how he and the Kop Kabal keep power: Through fear and intimidation.

“two different ways of getting things done”

Apples and oranges. Pete’s thing is not which bills he gets done, but which bills he snuffs. Usually one of Kowalko’s.

“He tends to make things personal, which is only OK when Val and I do it”

      Sentencing this October.

I like that a significant part of the defense was that he mixed up the dates. Holy shit. But I guess when your client confesses publicly and loudly you don’t have much to work with.
