Turns out, revenge is a dish best served on a warm Sunday afternoon in a New Jersey swamp.
President Donald Trump has spent much of his second term in office berating Spain over its anemic military spending and refusal to allow American forces to use Spanish bases for bombing missions in Iran. Earlier this month, Trump branded the country “hopeless,” derided the Spanish as “bad people” and briefly threatened to cut off all trade in goods with Madrid.
There isn’t much that the left-leaning Sánchez and nationalist Trump agree on. In his most enduring policy priority, Trump has pushed to eject unauthorized immigrants from the U.S.; across the Atlantic, Sánchez launched a government extending legal status to at least half a million people living without documentation in Spain.
Trump frequently derides sources of renewable energy, particularly wind turbines, and made drilling for fossil fuels a cornerstone of his second term; Sánchez has overseen a program that aims for Spain to derive 81 percent of its electricity output from renewables by 2030, well above the EU average.
Trump has also attacked the ally for not meeting the NATO military alliance’s defense spending goal of 5 percent of gross domestic product. The target is made difficult for Sánchez due to his position atop a fragile coalition propped up by left-wing parties that want to prioritize social programs, reflecting broader opposition from the Spanish public to defense spending.
The two leaders have clashed most bitterly over military action in the Middle East. Sánchez, a socialist who has been in charge of Spain since 2018, was one of the most vigorous European critics of Israel during its assault on Hamas in Gaza. This year, his government refused to let American jets use joint military bases on Spanish soil for U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, which provoked a series of stinging rebukes from the White House.

Donald Trump was caught out almost photobombing the victorious Spanish team as he lingered on the stage while they patiently waited to lift the World Cup.
The president couldn’t seem to resist hovering onstage after handing over the trophy as the Spanish side celebrated their win over Argentina, with Fifa boss Gianni Infantino forced to rush back to guide him away.
Trump joined Fifa President Infantino at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to present the trophy to the Cup winners after their 1-0 win on Sunday.
The president handed out gold medals to Spain and the referees, as well as silver medals to the Argentina.
Infantino walked off one side of the stage as the Spaniards waited to hoist the cup, but Trump continued to talk to the players before standing to the side of the team.
Some of the Spanish team even looked like they were going to coax Trump into his famous YMCA dance.
The Fifa boss jogged back across the stage as he tried to usher Trump to the side.
He eventually succeeded as the Spanish team began their celebrations to roars from thousands in the crowd.
Trump could be seen again pausing at the side of the stage as he watched gold ticker tape rain down on the winners.
One SBS commentator called it early, declaring on air “they can edit him out of that”. And they did.

The move announced Thursday would allow Wall Street trading firms and other institutions to get news from top Truth Social contributors in milliseconds so they could profit off subsequent moves in stocks, bonds and interest rates.
Called Truth PSI, the new service comes amid a flurry of other deals by Trump and his family company that critics say are exploiting the presidency for profit. It follows similar offers of paid access on rival platforms, though with one key difference: The most popular Truth Social poster is the president himself and, as the biggest shareholder of the public traded parent company, would directly benefit.
“He’s selling expedited, privileged access to information about what he is doing as president,” said Kathleen Clark of Washington University School of Law and an expert in government conflicts of interest rules. “It’s yet more brazen corruption, an improper exploitation of government power to enrich himself.”

In mid-March, two detectives, an Ohio county Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) caseworker, and a Cleveland Clinic physician met on Zoom to discuss how the 2-year-old daughter of a congressman and granddaughter of a US senator wound up with a broken collarbone.
“The bruising surrounding the clavicle fracture made the injury suspicious,” wrote one of the detectives who summarized the Zoom meeting. Further, someone on the call “advised the injury would have required a high degree of impact to occur.”
Neither the child’s father, Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio), nor mother, conservative policy adviser Emily Moreno, admitted to knowing what caused their daughter’s injury or that it occurred while their daughter was under their care.
“Daddy’s house is scary,” Moreno recounted her daughter saying, according to a Bay Village, Ohio, investigative report relating to the February 2026 injury.
The summary of the Zoom meeting and investigative report are among more than 2,000 pages of court filings and police reports pertaining to Miller that Mother Jones obtained through public records requests. The trove of documents contains allegations of drug use by Miller, misogyny and verbal abuse, and violent behavior against multiple women. The filings also include evidence that Miller implicitly threatened his ex-father-in-law, Sen. Bernie Moreno.

Some of the accusations contained in the records have not been conclusively proven by a court or law enforcement agency, and it’s possible they never will be. Cuyahoga County’s DCFS investigation into possible child abuse was “unsubstantiated”—that is, there was not enough evidence to support a finding of neglect or abuse. Additionally, Emily Moreno never filed a police report against Miller for harm she says he inflicted on her; she told a detective investigating the collarbone fracture that she feared “no one would believe her.” Still, the records pose troubling questions about the conduct of a sitting lawmaker, and his ongoing and increasingly bitter legal battle with his ex-wife may complicate his reelection bid.

Well, the confederacy of irrelevant dimwits — led by Maravellis and Thornburg — is back. “Labor” came out with their endorsements and while I applaud them for targeting many Delaware Way House Democrat incumbents and endorsing folks even those of us on this page support, why would anyone want their endorsement? When was the last time Maravellis and Thornburg actually won a race? Tom Gordon? Look how that turned out. When are they bringing the planes over the beaches out again? Thought that would have put BHL over the finish line. If I’m a candidate I’m not sure I’d want a “labor” endorsement. Seems like a “labor” endorsement is a pox on one’s house, to paraphrase Shakespeare. Not getting endorsed by labor seems to help your chances winning even more than if you were.
They got their noses out of joint over legislative pushback on their attempted control of all school construction projects, along with efforts to control expansion of data centers.

I DO, however, look kindly on endorsements from AFSCME and DSEA, among other groups.
The odd thing was how hard Bryan Towsend pushed sb 272. Maybe he thinks access to all the union Pac money will take him to the top of Delaware politics? Cant imagine the House appreciated this being dumped on them by Townsend.
I agree about AFSCME and DSEA. Most of the building trades don’t even reside in Delaware and the other half are likely Trumpers. I don’t know why Dem elected officials pay them so much of their minds when they are so clearly incapable of delivering anything other than defeat. And yet another act of mindnumbing stupidity by Maravellis and Thornburg is their recent endorsement of that whackjob Mat Powell. They are torching their own members’ money. If I was a union member I’d want an investigation into these guys being stupid.
the building trades are a big fat house cat in tiger stripes. sprinkle some food on the ground and it goes away. And poor Ruby Schaeffer in Sussex County is the latest victim with the endorsement from these two losers and I mean that literally. I forgot until today that both of them ran for public office before and were rebuked overwhelmingly by their own friends and neighbors.

As I said, all of these endorsements are against sitting legislators who didn’t permit the wiring of the Building Trades bidto have a monopoly over school construction.
Didn’t know about Schaeffer, but the others endorsees are running against Nnamdi Chukwuocha, Eric Morrison, Krista Griffith and Rae Moore.
