Deep Survival Thought
I better go out and get some bread, milk and eggs before the store shelves get picked clean.
There is nothing like a snow storm in the forecast to make everyone hungry for french toast.

LOL! I’ve always wondered why bread, milk and eggs are what people pick up. Who knew it was French Toast? That sounds pretty good right now.
As much as I detest the idea of going to generic super store on a snow panic day, I have to go out for coffee creamer and a dvd player. I will try to avoid the hysterical stampede on bread and eggs though.
Just did my weekly shopping and suprisingly, the store was pretty much empty. Guess the economy has people thinking twice about the need for milk, eggs and bread.
Anyone else notice a change in people’s grocery shopping habits? Even on a day to day basis, there’s little trouble finding a parking place and shopping cart at Stanton Shop Rite.
The stimulus is not big enough. The numbers are coming in, and consumer spending is dropping faster than it will be replaced by the stimulus spending when it starts to kick in. No one expected that the stimulus would completely spare us from the effects of any downturn, but the fact is we will have to either pump in more stimulus, or suffer an even greater downturn. Conservatives will blithely say “bring it on” but the fact is, the scope of the downturn we are looking at means lost homes, broken families, shattered lives – of people who are working hard and following the rules, not just the mythical mortgage deadbeats.
Regarding the question of the day, the movie Sicko proved single payer is the best health care system in the world. Why do you think the good ole USA is 47th in the world, behind Cuba and Costa Rica.

Stanton Shop Rite is the best grocery store in the state. What makes it so good?
I’ve found that if you go on Sunday afternoon, every place is packed. Friday evenings are also rough.
If I were dictator (and we are all glad I am not), retirees would not be allowed in the supermarket after 5 PM Monday through Friday and during the day on Saturday and Sunday.
Well, as y’all are snowed in, you can vote in the Liberal Beauty Contest on CSPT! 🙂
Stanton Shop Rite is the best because….it’s cheaper than most everything else within a 5 mile radius plus they carry some good stuff you can’t find at other places. Watch out for senior discount day though….dangerous! Those elders will run over you with their carts. It’s also a very entertaining place to shop….Fashion statements are founded at SR! Not necessarily good fashion statements, but fashion statements just the same. Besides, you can go right next door and get a $6.99 haircut (on haircut sale days). Sadly though, SR is losing a lot of $$ to Costco and Walmart on big box items so it hurts their bottom line.
2 eggs
1 cup milk
.5 oz sugar
dash nutmeg
dash cinnamon
dip with stale bread, brown at low-medium heat both sides. absolutely smother in syrup and butter. accompany with 6 slices bacon and 4 eggs over easy.
… and add instant heart attack with that much bacon & eggs!
Must be the weather. I made belgian waffles from an old toastmaster recipe that calls for yeast.
Shop Right the best? Do they have white asparagus, truffle oil, fresh baby corn cobs or fingerling potatoes?
I think not.
And eggs don’t cause heart attacks.
I was just at the new Shop Rite on Market St — they do have fingerling potatoes. And the rest are out of season (other than the truffle oil) anyway.
And that Shop Rite was packed too. I like that new store, but the parking lot layout is not very smart.
Well the baby corn cobs I just bought came from Guatamala and the white asparagus from California. I had never seen white asparagus outside of the farmer’s market so I was impressed. This was at my local Giant that competes with a new Harris Teeter.
Here’s the JAMA link to a pretty large egg c/e for non Q wave MI, CHD, and CVA though:

I heart new Market St. Shop Rite.
